brotherhood
I was wondering if anyone had a collection or would know where to find any Lambda Chi Quotes, or poetry that speaks of brotherhood or just lambda chi in general. We are having a brotherhood event this weekend and i just want to have some cool quotes or a brotherhood message to share with the bro's.... thanks for the help

Might I suggest chasing down a copy of "He ain't Heavy" by the Hollies? Try I-tunes.

Good one, everytime I hear that song on the radio it always reminds me of Lambda Chi and being an associate.
I have a LCA phone card that has brother Harry S. Truman on it with a quote that reads "We who know the true meaning of brotherhood must practice it." Its the only reason I got the card in the first place.

KooL!
Amazing from "The Man From Missouri" while being from plain stock and a Special Intiated Brother felt so close to His Fraternity!
See Brother Jonos signature quote!
Dang, reminds me, I need to go to His Library and check into any LXA's he may have had and if they are available. I wish I had known He was a LXA when I knew him. But alas, I was not a Brother yet!

quotes from Rituals
LCA's informal tagline (is history): Lamdba Chi Alpha - The fraternity of Honest Friendship.
Also, from the Ritual for Conducting business meetings, "As we go forth, may it be in the spirit of Brotherhood. Lambda Chi Alpha has a mission to perform second to none...."
Or, if it's going to be all brothers (and no non-initiates), I'd talk to the High Phi and get a quote from ritual. That always seems to perk up people's ears, and they can't disagree with it.
- Have the Phi do a ZAX session (#6 on pg 125 of the Phi Manual would be appropriate).
- Have a brotherhood discussion on "the base" explanation from 3B and why it's so important to be foundational. (pg 94 of Phi Manual).
Just a few thoughts. Have a great event.

George Spasyk used this one at the re-chartering banquet for the Alpha chapter in 1983:
"Even if we are occupied with important things and even if we attain honor or fall into misfortune, still let us remember how good it once was here, when we were all together, united by a good and a kind feeling which made us perhaps better than we are." Dostoevsky
I have used it on several occasions.

This is one of Lynn Chipperfield's favorite quotes. It gave me chills as
we chartered Pi-Lambda Zeta...

See if you can find any of George Spasyk's "Reflections" archives on-line - anything from about any one of those would be perfect.
I still get chills thinking of the "On Thermometers and Thermostats" article he wrote. Still inspires me every time I recall it...

Can you give an idea of what it was?
I look back and think of the time that LX Zeta was Colonized and then Chartered. I had graduated and did not actually know a lot about LXA until I got on GC, purchased items off of ebay.
Since then I have gained a lot of knowledge about LXA. It is a smattering from other Brothers who are on GC such as docroc and jono who are very diverse on history of our Fraternity.
While I do not learn something new each day, I still learn.
"He isn't heavy, He is My Brother!"
"Do not walk in front of me or behind me, walk with me".

I used this quote again as recently as Saturday night at the chartering banquet for Southeastern Oklahoma State. You might also note that we included it in the Ceremony for Alumni and Graduating Seniors that was adopted at the 2002 General Assembly.
It's still a favorite.

If I remember correctly, the article inspired Lambda Chi's to act as a thermostat instead of acting like a thermometer. The difference between the two is that a thermometer states the current condition; a thermostat changes it. So, the point is...instead of just complaining about a bad situation...get off your butt and do something to change it. You can view his article here:

I'm glad this was brought up...I haven't read it in years. Go check it out and enjoy...
Yours in Z A X ,

There is a destiny
that makes us brothers;
None goes his way alone.
All that we send into
the lives of others
Comes back into our own.

Brother Chris, thank you for digging this out and posting it!
I think in My next "AlumbdaGram" that I send out, I will copy it and send it to all of the Alumni I have listings for.
Brother George of course is a very special person to have known from my early days as a New Brother till today.
