Current Sororities:
Chi Omega
Delta Delta Delta
Kappa Kappa Gamma
Kappa Delta
Phi Mu
Pi Beta Phi
I have a friend who is a Tri-Delta. Quota was set at 55 for January Formal Recruitment. I know not all of the sororities made 55. I think ceiling is near 200 and I know Chi Omega and Delta Delta Delta are pretty much at ceiling. My friend isn't sure who is coming yet but they have invited two sororities to colonize in the Fall. I heard maybe Alpha Delta Pi as one.

If they're not all making quota and only two are at ceiling, why on earth are they expanding?

so what? We have our fraternity quota set at 100, the closest we have to that is Phi Kappa Psi at 70, and we're considerint expansion. Not that anyone seriously believs that it'll pass, but it's being considered.

From what I hear, the sororities that aren't at ceiling are very very close. Also, the potential new member number is increasing and I guess there is a significant need for more sororities.

My best friend goes to Wake Forest, but is independent (at home I'm about 35 min from campus).
Last fall I went to the Pi Phi suite and talked to a bunch of the girls.
Until last year, another group was present on campus, but lost their charter due to extremely low numbers. I know that they made a big push to get members but nothing seemed to work out for them.
In talking with the Pi Phis, they felt that if all groups made quota this year (or close to it), they would expand again. Their feeling was that it would be another group to take the "bottom" of the rung and that that group would die just as XYZ did. (This pattern may have even happened before). I also know several KDs, a Chi-O, and a Tri-Delt at Wake.
If you want more info PM me (not that I know all... are there any WFU people on here?)

I would think b/c 176, 177, 178, 200 Member chapters is HUGE!!! Ceiling here is 120 - i thought that was enormous! 200 seems ridiculous!

My *guess* is that ceiling is not 200 - but that maybe average chapter size is close to that large??? (for example Miami of Ohio ceiling is 105 but average chapter size is 160 -after formal recruitment..so when Phi Mu came on this Spring they were allowed to get to average chapter size, which is significantly larger than ceiling)

Wake Forest is in North Carolina.
I'm not surprised that they're expanding, if so many of the chapters are nearing 200 . . . that's ridiculous.
I believe they had another sorority there that just closed a year or two ago.

Yes, Wake Forest is in Winston-Salem, NC, and a group shut down last schoolyear. Knowing a lot about the campus and many Greeks, I am little surprised they are going to expand. Are there any Demon-Deacons on GC??? If not I can probably round some up.

I'm in graduate school at Wake, but have not learned much about the greek system there since they don't have my chapter. I've got a Chi-O in my class who went there as an undergrad - will see what she knows!

I found out this weekend that four groups are presenting this semester for two spots.
ADPi - who was on campus before
A Phi
DZ
Zeta
I know A Phi hasn't been there and don't think that Zeta or DZ has either.
Good luck to all groups presenting!!!
I will keep everyone posted on what happens when/if I hear....
