My friend and I decided to start our own sorority and what I was wondering was how do we get people interested and what are some things to look out for...more or less any advice that can be given will be greatly appreciated. If you want check out our site I built it myself http://geocities.com/rhosigmazeta anyways if you have any questions about what we are starting or whatever just ask! And I looke forward to hearing everyones advice...

Just a Question?

I liked your web site. Good Job

I saw that you all are located at Purdue Calumet and I just wondered since their is already 3 multicultural sororities at Purdue, why did you all decide to start your own sorority? I know that Purdue Calumet is really small and I always wondered why such a small school had so many multicultural type sororities.

Good luck

Hi there! Welcome to GC!

I don't have any advice with starting up a local because I've never done it, but I just wanted to wish you the best of luck.

And it's nice to see that you pick some rarely used letters!

I am curious about your choice of name. Your letters spell PEZ (as in the candy).

Best of luck You have a ton of work ahead of you.

A small correction on your motto: The Latin quote from Julius Caesar is "Veni, Vidi, Vici" and translates to the singular "I came, I saw, I conquered." If you wanted to make it plural, I think it would be "Venimus, Vidimus, Vicimus" - I'm not 100% certain, as it's been a long time since high school Latin

thanx

well for starters we decided to start our own bc there is one latin sorority a co-ed frat and the multicultural one and then the african american sororities when we went to zeta sigma chi we didn't feel like it was the right fit for us so we decided to start something that we fit into does that make sense? lol anyways the reason we picked our letters is because one they were rarely used and two we didn't really think of it spelling pez until a little while later and so now its just kinda like a fun thing for us i guess i dunno its not like ment to be anything disrespectful or anything it just happed to fall that way b/c we picked the letters how we liked them when they were said out loud and it just happened to be Rho Sigma Zeta anyways thanks everyone!!! and aephi alum thanks i'll look into that we got that from somebody and they said that was the translation but who knows anymore? lol agian thanks!!

rhosigmazeta, congratulations! I went through much the same process 5 years ago with Epsilon Tau Pi, and can't say I regret any of the headaches. Good luck!

The only advice I have for you would be to determine up front where you want to go. If you want to eventually go national (or leave the option), make sure you keep as detailed records as possible. The start-up work for any GLO is rough, but sparing colonies that headache can go a long way to their success.

Stay true to your principles/purposes/creed/etc., and never look back - this'll change your life. And, BTW, enjoy writing the oath - that was my favorite part.

Again, Good Luck!

No, PEZ would be Rho Epsilon Zeta.
Her letters spell out "RSZ"
(i.e. "squished down" E...LOL)
