monmouth duo
my chapter is making a big push to improve campus image and reputation. one thing we would like to do is revive our monmouth duo with the lovely ladies from kappa. i was just wondering, for those of you that have a kappa chapter on campus, what ideas/themes/neato stuff in general have you done for monmouth duo?

Re: monmouth duo
We have not held any events lately with Kappa other than a mock rush run-through, but we use to have crush parties/date parties together as well as we would hold a pot luck dinner event together. I hope that gives you some ideas.

We used to have our formal with Kappa every year and it was called Monmouth. We dont do it anymore, I'm not sure why, but we always had a great time together!

I'll try to shed some light on why "Monmouth Duo" has changed from what your alumnae remember it being. Having a formal with Kappas is the equivalent of a 4-way in terms of number of guests. Both international fraternities discourage social events of that size for liability reasons.
If you wanted to do a service project with the Kappas, or cosponser an educational forum, that would be cool but the parties are strongly discouraged..

We ended up planning a buffet dinner at the popular local Chinese restaurant together. I'm really excited, I think it's going to go well for our chapters.

Our chapter used to do Monmouth duo around our founders day but last year when I was a new initiate it didn't happen. This year our Panhellenic Delegate wants to revive it and try and have a joint social event with them.

I am a texas pi phi and we still do monmouth with our kappas. the week before hand the kappas and pi phis together walk around fraternity row, sing our song to the fraternity and deliver our dates a decorated cooler full of candy, toys, and alcohol. it i the best formal of the year. we are close to our kappas and have a great time together.

Monmouth Duo
We hold an annual Monmouth Duo dance each Winter. Both Pi Phis and Kappas are invited, and each member is allowed to bring TWO dates! Their dates can be either male or female, which is fun because it allows a lot of people to experience a greek function, who wouldn't normally get to (ie. non-affiliated roommates & school friends). It is definitely the event of the year!

tackyyyy
This might be a really old thread, but my chapter and kappa hold a "tacky" formal together every year, instead of having a serious monmouth duo formal. everyone wears the most hideous clothes and it is hilarious to see the pictures. it is one of the biggest greek events on our campus, everyone wants to go.

When I was at Monmouth we would do stuff with the Kappas - just socials, luncheons, etc. Nothing too rowdy. I have shirts with cowboy boots and stuff on them, not sure why since nothing we did was very "cowboy" that I remember. No formals with them though.

We do a two day date party with Kappa. The first day is a costume party and the second day is a hayride and bonfire.
We do it in the fall, my first one was this year and it was SOOOOO much fun!
