Recruitment Chair
Hey All -
Im a brother of the Zeta Beta Tau Fraternity, Eta Iota Chapter at SUNY Plattsburgh, and am running for my Recruitment Chair for my Chapter.
I was wondering if you guys had any good ideas for me to present to my Chapter this upcoming Sunday.
So far I have these ideas listed:
• Recruitment Ideas
o Create a new non Executive Board position → Rush Chair to work along side with the Recruitment Chair to plan out better, successful rush events
o Make it personal → flyers clearly do not work as well as being personal
o Dorm Storm before rush events or at coin drives
o Put events on little sheets of paper on the doors of freshman buildings, but also knock on their doors and introduce yourself and get names of POTENTIAL rushes
o Just because someone does not want to rush does not mean we need to ignore them, it means that we need to stay in contact with them → they may have friends who are interested in joining, a majority of members come from people who are friends with brothers.
o Wear letters more often so people know that we are around
o I am part of the biggest rush class yet, with 8 other brothers and that shows that we are getting better with recruitment, but at the same time a lot of these new brother either knew somebody already in the fraternity or were good friends with brothers already.
o One important recruitment tool should be tabling for a simple BBQ, the weather is nice out, we should have a nice BBQ or another informative party OUTSIDE!
o
I would appreciate any help or suggestions for me!
Thanks all,
Dan

If you ended up getting the position I would highly recommend reading the book "Good Guys"
It details the "Phired Up" program which has really revolutionized a lot of different school's recruitment.

Hey! At my school the Greek system helps with freshmen move in, maybe you could talk to the campus and see if your fraternity why wearing letters could help move freshmen into the dorms during move in week. It's a great way for you to get your letters out there and seen.
Also maybe set up a table out side of the different dorms, not pushing ur fraternity, but giving out free water bottles or food during move in. If you wear ur letters during this, it could be another great way to get your house out there!
Hope that helps

HIGHLY recommended. I've read a lot of it, and I've read 'I Heart Recruitment' (for sororities) a few times.
Visit phiredup.com, as well

Read the PhiredUp Blog too - the posts are, at best, excellent, and, at worst, really really good!
