Gifts

I will be initiated soon. What is the proper etiquette as far as gift giving? Should I get a gift for my sponsor? Any other AI's out there that can help me out here, I would be greatful.

In my opinion, it's your day, so you should be the one getting gifts.

If someone I sponsored got me something, I'd be really touched. But I also think it's not necessarily something you need to do that day. You could get her something the next time you see her.

Congrats on your initiation! How soon is it?

Most undergrads being initiated typically give their sponsors a gift, usually a wood craft.

As you're an AI and your sponsor is an alum, I would suggest you write a nice note and give her a gift that is symbolic of the sorority, perhaps a bracelet or a plant... or maybe an inspirational poem (framed).

Congratulations and best wishes on your initiation!

Well, I am hoping to be initiated soon (still waiting to hear), but I just gave gifts to my AI sponser, the ac president, and another alum who wrote a rec letter for me. I wrote them thank-you notes, and gave them all a gift card to the spa we all go to. If I do get accepted and initaiated into this wonderful sorority, I will probably give my sponser another little something.

AOII Silver, tell more about the ring!! That sounds awesome!!

And by the way, to the original poster, congrats on your upcoming initiation!! Where did you find your home??

Any Thing that comes from The Heart would be nice especially if You wrote something to go along with it!

A gift is a sincere gesture of appreciation expressed in a tangible form.

If you need to ask, it makes the gift insincere and you shouldn't give one. Unless you are pretty cynical.

And before the rest of you jump all over me, this is not a normal etiquette question. Gifts are almost never inappropriate but they are not always socially required.
