rush

How did everyone do in this Falls rush, we got 30 studs. Did a lot better last fall but I would rather have quality over quantity.

Here we go, the lame old 'quality over quantity' fallback when a chapter does not do as well in rush as it had hoped or expected to do.

Every time I read that a chapter "elected to go for quality over quantity this year" I see a chapter that is making excuses for why it did not succeed in rush. As our Recruitment Commissioner, ARMs, and other rush leaders have continually stated, there is no reason whatsoever why a chapter cannot achieve BOTH quality AND qunatity in rush.

As UTKappaSig 21 himself says in his posting, Lambda Chapter "did a lot better last fall". I hope other chapters don't have the same lesser results this Fall as Tennessee apparently has had, but if they do, I sure hope that they don't trot out the excessively overused 'quality over quantity' rationale for their disappointing performance.

Re: rush

Congratuations on getting 30 new guys!

But remember: If you think you did beter last year there is no reason to view recruitment as over . . keep recruiting new guys.

The biggest limitation to recruitment is artifical, everyone believes they ahve to get everyone in the first few weeks of the semester . . . keep your admissions rolling.

stufield dont sit there and bash one of the oldest chapters of Kappa Sig, rush was bad for a lot of fraternities this year we only gave out 42 bids and as our area recruitment guy told us in meeting over 80 percent returning a bid is actually where we should be. We were third overall on campus with guys signing, pike and spe pretty much gave bids to everyone and a lot of the guys that signed with them we cut. Hands down we are the best at this campus, we know it and the girls know it u dont go here so I dont need to hear criticism from u.

Congratulations to both chapters - it sounds like you've had great rushes, and hope that your success continues over the rest of the year. Rush really can be a big catalyst for the rest of the school year, and a good rush holds well for everything else.

Keep the good news coming.

Rush Numbers

At Lambda-Xi (Georgia College & State University) we were able to pledge a chapter AS WELL AS a Greek System record 42 men this fall. That number is astounding seeing as ONLY 76 men came out for Formal Rush! According to the latest rankings just released by the fraternity, that is good enough for 9th out of all the chapters in the United States. I am very proud to be an alumnus of that chapter and I am glad to see that Kappa Sigma is well on their way to establishing another rush record.

Brother Stockstill:

Thanks for the post regarding the tremendous success of Lambda-Xi Chapter Chapter in Fall Rush.

Two things:

1. You are NOT an "alumni" of Lambda-Xi Chapter. "Alumni" is plural. You are an "alumnus".

2. You mention that Lambda-Xi's 42-man plege class was the ninth highest for all Kappa Sig chapters according to the latest rankings released by the Fraternity. Can you please advise where the release to which you refer is posted and can be accessed. It certainly is not on the Fraterniy's website, which is almsot totally devoid of any current information, and has not posted any Fall rush numbers whatsoever. Can you please copy the release and paste it as a posting to this thread? If you are not able to advise where the rankings can be viewed, and if you are not able to post a copy to this thread, would you at least list the othe chapters that are on the rankings - the eight chapters that are listed ahead of Lamba-Xi and those that came behind it but still did well enough in Fall rush to be ranked.

Rush Numbers

This is from the mail list serve that certain brothers and alumni belong to (mostly volunteer alumni). They have yet to release a final list, but it should be soon.

Congratulations to the top 25 Recruiting Chapters as of October 17, 2005. This represents all pledges reported prior to Mid Term Rush.

Of special note are the 14 new Chapters and Colonies who broke into the Top 25 this fall. Congratulations Brothers and future Brothers. We look forward to seeing the final fall Top 25 list after Mid Term Rush is completed in November.

Kappa Sigma is on the way to another record breaking semester in remaining the most preferred Fraternity in North America. AEKDB

Thanks for the post, John. The rankings are also posted in every "Caduceus."

Congratulations to the chapters, and it's nice to see UConn making an appearance. I've met quite a few of the brothers in their chapter over the years, and I've always thought they were a great bunch.

I just wanted to comment on some of the earlier postings. What's the deal with some of the criticism and scrutiny over a Brother's post? If they say that rush was slow, or they did better last year, so be it. Applaud them on their efforts and hard work, and wish them luck for the upcoming rush. Maybe give them some pointers or help instead of being so pessimistic. Everyone knows rush is not an easy hurdle, and harsh words from fellow Brothers don't exactly help motivate people.
