Time to brag
Okay, ladies, time to brag. The way I look at it we have a sister from Hawaii, two sisters from Michigan, a sister from Illinois, a sister from Georgia and a sister from Pennsylvania in here (and then I am from KY)... so I wanna hear what you think your chapters bragging rights are.
My chapter won TUG OF WAR in Greek Week this year (we practice for months before here!) and we even full pulled all three times!! (Which is really hard to do!)
My chapter went from 10th in grades to 7th with a 2.96 and our new members are ranked 2nd in grades (yes we have some smart ladies!!!)
My chapter won the most improved chapter award during Greek Week!!!! (We so deserved it too!!!)
My chapter has the nicest, sweetest, best friends in the whole world!! When my roommate and I were sick we quarentined ourselves and we had between 5-8 sisters visiting us all the time anyways to wish us well, bring us soup, make us laugh and talk to!!
My sisters are my best friends, they hold me when I cry, they support me when I think I can't do something, they encourage me, they love me unconditionally.
That is my chapters bragging rights (just to name a few). Now I wanna hear yours!

well, i hope you will all be pleased to see how the alpha sigma chapter at indiana university of PA is doing, b/c we kick some ASS.....
well, we WON FIRST PLACE in greek sing (where you do the "cheerleading type" dance w/ the other fraternity)in 1997, (2nd in 1998), 1999, 2000, and 2001... it was great b/c DZ'z thought they were going to beat us this year (like they think so EVERY year), but the got 3rd... SORRY... everyone is REALLY getting sick of us winning. no one has EVER won 3 years in a row. we plan on making it 4!
we won greek week in 1999 (i believe..), 2000, and 2001.
we tied for 1st in the Mary Stella Wolfe award w/ DG's in 2001, 2nd in 2000, and first in 1999. (if you don't have that award at your school, it means beat all around).
we got 2nd or 3rd in grades this year... 3rd in 2000, and first in 2001
we got first in the interfraternalization award (were all the fraternities and sororities vote on the BEST)in 1999, 2000, and second in 2001 (we lost to ZTAs... but they aren't very good on our campus... it's a mystery.. we think all the sororities put them down as a "joke" so they wouldn't have to vote for anyone else.. boy did THAT joke backfire, huh?)
we also won homecoming queen for 2000... you have to understand that there has not been an AGD homecoming queen in about 5 million years... and the past four years, the homecoming queens have been africian-american... so we were quite surprised when she won, but so happy!
we won 1st in homecoming 1998, 2nd in 1999, and second in 2000.
well, as of now, that is all i can think of.. but i am pretty proud of how great our chapter is doing!
AGD love and mine,
tatianna

okay, girls, I hate to brag... but here I go:
We are the largest chapter on campus.
We have the best sisterhood(one sorority actually says we want sisterhood like AGD).
We have the highest gpa.
We won homecoming float.
We have 9 advisors.
We won the most awards at Greek awards-we never sat down.
We are the classiest girls on campus.
We won Greek week.
We won Greek Goddess.
We won Panhellenic Spirit awards.
We have more girls on Panhellenic than any other chapter.
And it keeps going.
But the best is...
Heather Estes, Director for Chapter Services, is from our chapter.
Two LC's for this year(Tiffany Green and Jenny Price) are from my chapter.
And, I'm going to be a page at Convention.
I know we're not trying to out-brag each other! So, I want to hear everyone else's successes! (And this is good practice for recruitment!)

UMGirl that post made me smile big. I have had a hard day, a friend of the family passed away, I woke up at 5AM to leave my boyfriend, drive two hours to my internship where I don't get paid and missed my lunch hour to work and then went straight to my paying job for six hours where I only got one fifteen minute break! But your post made me smile. Thanks so much. Loyally, Sarah

I'm also very sorry to hear about your friend, ilovemyglo. I have lost a lot of ppl lately so I know it can be really really hard. Here are mine and LeslieAGD's bragging rights:
We just got back to back jewel chapter after never getting it before
We went from being really concerned about beign so top heavy to not even worrying about our numbers for next b/c as long as we make quota at formal recruitment, we are pretty much full and it's mostly all freshman and sophmores.
We have a really cool rep on campus as being the cool, fun and cute girls that aren't ones for sleeping around
We are totally down to earth and accepting of everyone
I know we have other stuff too, but it's 1:30 and I'm sleepy and can't think of them, but I know my girl Leslie will pick up where I left off and tell you more!

to bounce off of Katey:
Yes, we've gotten Jewel Chapter two years in a row after never having earned it since we've been on campus (1974)
We have currently have two sisters on Panhellenic Executive Board
We won 1st place in Greek Week Jello Suck every year from 96 to 99
We have really rebuilt our chapter in the past two years with many girls that taken leadership positions almost immediately
We are known as the nicest sorority and we hang out with a lot of the GLOs, not just specific ones

I am okay. She was an older lady who had breast cancer that spread and became brain cancer. She'll be missed but at least she isn't in any pain anymore.
Okay, I have a problem (school/greek related).
My chapter doesn't get any bids from fraternties. We hang around them and they all tell us how cool we are but we never get bids. There are 11 frats and 7 sororities and there is one other sorority that has the same problem. We have a rep for not sleeping around and some guys I know say they give bids to other sororities cause they know they'll see action (then I remind them how shallow those girls are and how they shouldn't want them anyway). This really bugs some of my sisters, but it doesnt really bug me cause only 5 of the frats do anything on campus at all anyway. See my thing is, I don't want a bid from a fraternity if they only do that to get laid, cause that is not how I want my sisters to be. But how do I convince them it is okay... I mean only 5 fraternities out of 11 do mixers, homecoming, etc anyway... the others just get drunk and make asses of themselves.

Hey Sarah, I am happy that my post made your day and i hope everything is better for you. I was just wondering what exactly are the bids for? Like why do frats give you guys bids?
Also, woohoo i think alpha beta became a jewel chapter too

on our campus guys give homecoming bids and date function bids to sororities. We don't do anything paired up except homecoming. Panhellenic has nothing to do with that and neither does IFC.

Okay, Leslie, at my school, the fraternities are basically really nice guys, don't get me wrong, I think the world of most of them. BUT at my school the IFC and Panhellenic don't function well and therefore we have no real communication. When a fraternity wants to have, say a mixer or date function at my school, they go sing to the sorority they chose and at our school it's called a "Mixer Bid". For homecoming they each chose a sorority and give them a "Homecoming Bid". That is just what they are called. Although at my school, out of 11 fratnerities only 5 do mixers or homecoming. The other ones are scary cause all they do is sit around and get drunk and act like animals instead. One fraternity didn't participate in Homecoming because they said they wanted to spend that money on kegs instead.
Hope that clarifies what I said earlier.
Sarah

Sarah, thanks for the clarification! Sorry you aren't receiving their bids...that sucks. I would say ignore those fraternities for a while and you'll notice that they'll start coming around asking where you've been. Then tell them, "well, you want us to hang out, but you never give us bids." That usually works for me when my frat guy friends treat me that way. Hope it helps.
