This is quite surprising, considering Miss Lee's history of being adamant about never publishing another book. She has had at least one stroke. Her sister has passed. This is an interesting decision. The announcement came from her publisher.

Just found this -- our Chi Omega magazine, the Eleusis, reported that Harper Lee was working on her 2nd book.
In an issue from 1964. Guess we scooped everyone else ... by 50+ years.

Harper Lee's sister Alice Lee, who ferociously protected Harper Lee's estate (and person) from unwanted outside attention as a lawyer and advocate for decades, passed away late last year, leaving the intensely private author (who herself is reportedly in ill health) vulnerable to people who may not have her best interests at heart.

Though it's effectively a sequel, Ms. Lee actually wrote " Go Set a Watchman" first.
