Please Help Me
Good Evening to everyone on Greek Chat,
I want to start off this post by saying that I am not another one of these "Internet Nupe" wannabees. I came across this site trying to find the answer to a question that I have been trying to figure out for a while now, what is it exactly that I have to do to become a member of Kappa Alpha Psi Inc.? I have exercised every option that has come across my mind and have come up with nothing. I am currently a high school senior who is enrolled to attend school in the fall. I was recruited to play a sport for the college that I will be going to, and first encountered the Kappas on my official visit weekend. They came into a party fresh, wearing blazers and bow ties, and everybody stopped, waiting to see what they would do. This had an enormous impact on me because it showed how much respect everybody had for this group of people. Prior to this, I had little to no knowledge of real Greek life. My only knowledge came from movies such as school daze, and my aunt who is a member of AKA Sorority Inc. I have always been interested by them, but never really thought to try to find information until I got closer to the college age. Throughout school, I have been called "Preppy" and "Fly" and that was the first thing that interested me to the Kappas when I was on my visit. They seemed to be the most like me. Laid back, cool, fly and good with the girls. I thought they were just like me, and I would fit in good with them. My host found out that I was interested in the fraternity, and introduced me to an individual from the organization that also plays the same sport that I will. We talked briefly, about nothing really, just greeting each other, exchanging names, and my interest in the frat. He then introduced me to some more of the Kappas, and that was all that I saw of them for the night. He gave me his cell phone number and told me to call him if i needed anything. When I got home from the visit, millions of thoughts were going through my mind. Mainly, becoming a member of this fraternity. I then went to find out more information about them, and discovered the amount of community service that they do, and the prestigious alumni network that they have in Corporate America. I believe that I can contribute to community service because giving back to the community is one of the most rewarding tasks that I have ever completed in my life, and I would like to continue. This was when I was 10000% sure that I absolutely HAD to become a member. However, it left me in the predicament that I am in now. I found out that I cannot pledge until second semester. How should i act toward the Kappas until I do pledge? Should I act like they are not there, or should I greet them every time I see them? What determines whether I "cross" or "drop"? My grades will not be a factor because I am positive that they will be in order, and i think "dropping" is the term for quitting, and that will not happen because I do not quit anything. What factors determine whether a pledge crosses or drops, and what can I do to make sure that I cross?
P.S. I sincerely apologize if I was out of line and/or offended anyone with any of my questions. I just want to know everything I can so that I know what I'm supposed to be doing and how I should be acting so that I can become a Distinguished Brother of Kappa Alpha Psi Inc. I have never wanted so bad to be part of any type of group, people usually wanted to associate with me, that is how I know that my desire to be a Kappa is something special. Thank you to everyone in advance.

^^^ Why aspirants will keep ignoring the stickies at the top of every BGLO forum. You know good and well there was nothing "serious" about his inquiry.

My bad, NUPE4LIFE was with me, I'll let him out for a little while, long enough to put the thread on lockdown.

Well most here are lame. I suggest you just talk to the ones you know in real life. And by the way, since nobody else has said it yet:
Focus on finishing high school strongly and having wonderful memories of your last summer before college. Focus on your studies first and foremost.
GOOD LUCK!
Even though you're making a horrible, horrible mistake.

I want to contribute to their acts of service, and be allowed to share the brotherhood that they have with each other. I just wanted to know how I should act so that I don't get "black listed" for doing something wrong. I don't know much about the actual process, and I do not know if it is appropriate for me to approach the Kappas that I met and ask, so I figured I would ask for help here. I have already apologized for breaking the rules, I don't know what else to do.
P.S. Sorry for the long response, I just feel that strongly about this

Get a clue, dude. Either PM the Kappa who offered his assistance or go do your homework so you aren't late for home room or whatever they have.
