Question To Ring or Not to Ring???

Ok, so I was thinking about ways to increase web traffic to our chapter site. The idea of webrings came to mine. Now our sorority already has it's own webring but I decided to add some 'other' webrings also :-)

But in general, I haven't seen webrings really used a lot on fraternity/sorority sites. One exception being the Black Greek Web Ring...which I think is just an amazing idea.

Since our group is a multicultural sorority, it would fit to join that webring. I contemplated starting a 'multicultural greek' webring of some sorts but I didn't due to the fact that I have no idea how fellow greeks feel about listing their sites with a webring (is it tacky, fosters un-needed competitiveness, pointless, draws un-wanted attention, or all of the above?)

Also notice that the few greek webrings there are (Sororities online, Locals online) are quite small.

So what's the deal? Do webrings wound more than they heal?
