dual membership
I am an initiated sister of AGD and I absolutely love it. However, I recently transferred schools, and the school I'm currently attending doesn't have a chapter. They do have a local sorority, KTE that I like, and I just miss greek life so much. Is it possible to join KTE and still retain my membership in AGD? A few of the KTE sisters think it would be cool if I joined and we held events with my chapter of AGD. Any information and/or advice would be great

When you first asked this exact question in another thread,

I recently transferred schools and there's no chapter of my NPC here. Is there anyway I could join the local sorority? I've been told I could because it's local, but I've also been told that in order to do so I would need to drop my NPC. I am not willing to do that. I just miss greek life.

I don't think that posting the same question in another (albeit AGD) thread was what he was thinking. Please note the part in parenthesis. You will know for certain that you have the correct answer by talking to a real person in your IHQ. Good luck.

Yep - check out the alphagammadelta.org website - look under directory. Pick the staff member who looks like she can answer your question. I assure you you'll get an answer as soon as possible.

I wasn't sure how to go about asking IHQ and I thought someone on this forum may have had experience with this situation. Thanks for telling me where to go though

And if the social you're rushing has a philanthropy requirement, you can kill two birds with one stone. I would definitely recommend both APO and social greek, but greek life on my campus might not be like greek life on yours. good luck with whatever you decide though!

Just wondering if you are initiated into APO as well.

You mentioned that your potential new sorority is interested in getting together with your AGD chapter. Are you in good terms with your old chapter? If so, speak with an advisor regarding your membership. If she can't help you, I'm sure she can refer you to the most appropriate person at IHQ.

Would the local chapter be willing to let you be a "social member"? At my college, some undergrads who transfered to the campus and were initiated into organizations that didn't have a chapter there, would be invited to be social members. The social members paid a small fee and came to socials and non-ritual/meeting events. The social members made it clear to anyone outside of the chapter that they were not members of the chapter.
Just a thought.

As I've said before, this kind of situation makes me miss the "Stray Greeks" groups that many campuses had decades ago.

There are a few KTEs out there. One is from an all-local sororities campus and some are from campi w/ a mix of locals & nationals. IMO the first one isn't a conflict but the second is. I'd say that for any NPC sorority.

I think she's saying that she thinks there wouldn't be a conflict with your AGD membership to join KTE if all the sororities at your new school are locals. But, if there is a mix of locals and NPC sororities at your new school, she thinks there would be a conflict with your AGD membership if you joined a sorority at your new school.

Oh, okay. Why would the mixture be an issue? And no, I haven't spoken to IHQ yet. I'm still trying to figure out exactly how to ask.

It depends on whether they're members of the campus panhellenic council.
Talking to someone from IHQ should give you a lot of answers though.
