Jimmy Carter Dies at 100

I'm feeling a little bad about Jimmy Carter's passing tonight. Various members of my family had met or knew Jimmy (with or without Rosalyn), and all considered him a hardworking, stand up man of God. My mother's cousin & his wife lived next door to the Carters when stationed at San Diego (if you went to George Mason, you probably heard of him, or at least his name). Both my mother and I worked Advance for Jimmy, and were invited to the White House for meet & greets. My daddy & brother and several cousins met him on the campaign trail.

Jimmy was a good man who I hope history treats better than the 1980s press did. I pray that he has been reunited with his Rosalyn, and that they're enjoying heaven together.

PS: When Rosalyn died last year, when everyone was saying that Jimmy wouldn't last long without her, I said, "No way! He's going to make it to 100!"

I’ll remember Jimmy Carter as a simple and truly decent human being who loved his God, his family and his country. We should all leave such a legacy.

I don’t know much about him, other than what I’ve read. However, I am very happy that his funeral services are being held while our country still has true leadership in place.

Jimmy Carter was an honorary Brother of Alpha Phi Omega. What a remarkable life he lived. May his memory be a blessing.

My folks had a small oil company when I was young. Carter's policies apparently caused them to have to sell. They were not fans of his administration.

That said, I always admired the work he did post-presidency. 100 years. That's a hell of a run.

My mom waited tables at a steakhouse in Bristow Oklahoma and had Roslyn and Jimmy Carter as customers when he was running for president. She said they were very nice and that’s why she voted for him.

I met President Carter several times when I was stagemanaging Braves telecast for TBS. One time I told him he was the best ex president we’ve ever had and he laughed. I think he knew what I meant.

I enjoyed attending Sunday school with Jimmy Carter and learned more from him in one hour than I'd learned from other Sunday school teachers in a year. I also briefly spoke with Rosalyn Carter about attending church with the Eisenhowers when I was young. She stated that she and Jimmy were working to create a lasting legacy. She also smiled that I knew what it was like to attend church with an ex president and first lady.
