Snow Day in north Texas

All week, the weathermen in the Dallas-Fort Worth area told us that, beginning on Thursday, we would have snow. On Sunday, they said it would be an inch of snow or so. On Tuesday, they said it would be one to three inches. During the 10 o'clock news on Wednesday night, they said it would be around 5 inches of snow in some areas. We woke up Thursday morning to some 5 inches of snow, all right, but it was still coming. North Texas has now had the most snow it's seen in 32 years. My backyard is 8 inches deep, and other areas have official readings of 11+ inches.

Colleges in Dallas and Fort Worth mostly closed yesterday, and North Texas closed at noon. Everybody's closed today. Yesterday, during the short time he was on campus, my husband said there were students everywhere playing in the snow like little kids and having a blast. There is a photo slide show in the link below where you can see pictures of everyone having some winter fun that is rare in Texas. Students, doggies, and even a bunny explore the snowfall.

Why is this in Greek Life? If you wait long enough during the slide show, you see an occasional photo of something Greek... an ADPi banner displayed on campus, some of the DGs in front of their house. I'm sure there are more- the slideshow keeps getting more and more photos added to it, so it's longer every time I look at it!

Enjoy!

My MIL in Southern Oklahoma had to have someone drive her to work this morning. Not a single inch up here in OKC for a change.

I am truly enjoying this snow! I sent a text to my sister about the snow and told her that it's snowed twice down here this year! We're just not that used to it!
It does look beautiful covering the buildings, but even I know, it does become treacherous when it begins to freeze and become ice.
Even though, it's pretty to look at, for right now.

Toward the end of the slideshow, there are also some Delta Sigma Pi, and I believe Phi Sigma Pi letters standing next to each other in the snow

Yep, I saw that after I posted my previous message.

We took a quick drive through campus a little while ago- the roads aren't very bad up here- and I snapped a few pictues of some of the houses. I'll see if I can get them loaded onto Photobucket and then here later today.

I'm loving the snow, but hating the drivers. I'm used to this weather, but clearly some folks think it's OK to drive 80 mph in the snow.

Drive around me if I'm going too slow. Kthxbi.

We're def loving it too! My husband and I had to shovel the driveway and decided to make the biggest snowman ever (in dallas). And then after we had a three foot high base, realized we are both born and raised in the Dallas area and have NO TEXAN idea how to start lol. We ended up with a big ass snowball with shovels stuck in it. This shoveling is hard work!

But I am worried about the weight of it all on our buildings... a small club (Brooklyns) had a collapsed roof! And with the game this weekend everyone and their mama is having an event, weather be damned!

Brooklyn's by Fair Park? I hope they get it fixed -- I've been wanting to go there for the longest.

And I'm still hearing about the events. Trina and Nikki Minaj (sp?) are having some party. I got a text about Play N Skillz having a party. There's Diddy's event. WAYYY too much going on for me lol Good luck to those who have the drive to head out to those things.
