Delta Delta Delta Pledges Millions to St. Jude Research Hospital
On July 4, 2014 Delta Delta Delta announced the largest fundraising goal in the history of the fraternity. Tri Delta has pledged to donate, in ten years, the sum of 60 million dollars.
Since 1999 Tri Deltas have provided funds for the teen room, patient care floor and the specialty care building. The last fundraising goal was $15 million in 5 years, which was raised in over 3 years.
Sisters are on the staff of the hospital, visit patients, assist with the teen prom and provide other volunteer services. Some collegiate members are now undergoing treatment at St. Jude's.
Tri Delta's philanthropies also include Children's Cancer Charities as well as St. Jude Research Hospital. The Tri Delta Foundation provides scholarships and support for collegiate and alumnae.
Many children's cancer patients are now having positive outcomes due, in part, by research at the hospital.

Wowsers.
Well I know one thing... they wouldn't set a goal that high if they didn't already have at least a third (but probably half) of their pledges already secured. Campaigns don't go public from zero.

All the Tri Deltas I know – from actives to alumnae, from “back east” to the “wild west” – are very passionate about fundraising for Saint Jude. I have no doubt they will reach their goal in ten years – if not sooner.

I know the Ole Miss Tri Delta Chi Chapter alone raised $143,500 for St Jude during the 2013-2014 school year! They are eager and excited to raise money for such an amazing cause! Visiting the St Jude Children's Research Hospital in Memphis was one of my daughters favorite activities she did with her Tri Delta sisters last year. The girls all left the hospital inspired and grateful for the small part they contributed to it.
I'm so proud of these girls and all the Tri Deltas nationwide for committing to this amazing goal!

More on St. Jude and Raising Funds
Major fundraising campaigns such as those for universities do have what is known as a "quiet period" when major donors commit to large donations in advance of the campaign total announcement.
Tri Delta just completed the last campaign a short time ago. There was no quiet period. Chapters raise money at all sorts of events. Examples of these are pancake breakfasts, golf tournaments, baseball tournaments, charity runs, teeter totter contests and bake sales. Alumnae have dinner dances, sell holiday wreaths, St. Jude walks, charity breakfasts, online auctions, plant sales and other fundraisers. Some of these events involve alumnae and collegiate chapters working together.
Tri Delta is just one of the supporters of St. Jude Hospital. Chili's, Sigma Nu, Dominos Pizza, Radio One, Univision and other organizations have made pledges. It costs $1.8 million per day to run the hospital. Public donations provide 75% of the funds received each year. St. Jude is the only National Cancer Institute designated Comprehensive Cancer Center devoted solely to children.
St. Jude is a research hospital. Progress has been made in the fight against children's cancers. Overall survival rate for all children's cancers is now 80%. The survival rate of patients with acute lymphoblastic leukemia, the most common childhood cancer, has gone from 4% to 94% today.
It is positive part of Greek life to learn about the efforts of all NPC national organizations which provide support to charities through the efforts of both alumnae and collegiate chapters.

Funds for St. Jude Hospital
It was announced at the national headquarters of Delta Delta Delta in Dallas a large sum has already been raised toward the goal of $60 million.
So far Tri Deltas have raised $27 million dollars. In the next year it is expected the members will reach 50% of the amount pledged.

Support of Charities
Thank you for your kind post.
Greek NPC alumnae and collegiate chapters across the country raise huge sums, donate time, give service hours and support our national philanthropic goals. It seems so few have any idea of these efforts by our combined groups for these charities.
