Point System

My fraternity chapter doesn't have an established points system. We don't really have a system that works, and I believe that by trying to establish a point system with my chapter it could help us get more involved on campus and with the Greek community on our campus, and help us grow as a house. I was wondering if anyone could send me anything that works with them and their chapter, or a copy of their system. Also what works for your chapter and what doesn't?

Thanks

Also if you have any ideas on a disciplinary system that could be set up for for new pledges so they don't slack off. It is important to our house that the pledges go to study hours, do their duties to learn respect for the house etc... and we are having a hard time coming up with a disciplinary system that would mandate that they do these things.

We didn't have a point system and we didn't punish. Punishment = hazing

This assumption causes many organizations to become overly risk-averse.

Punishment is not necessarily hazing. When you set a standard, and inform the affected members of the consequences of failing to meet that standard, you're teaching responsibility.

Now, of course that consequence is not going to be demeaning, degrading, or embarrassing. (And if a pledge believes that helping to clean a fraternity house is beneath him, that tells you something about his character.)

I believe that a positive incentive system in which you have to earn enough points to participate in events works -- or can work.

If you don't earn the points, you can't participate.... would you consider that to be a punishment? Or would you consider the event to be the reward?

If one does not attend meetings or any other types of chapter events then they are to busy to attend the social functions also.

Work comes with pay offs. No work, no play!

I totally agree. LOL at the flame-proof suit.
