Fun Stuff to Do?
As I've posted previously, our alum chapter is always looking for new stuff to do for our "Girls Night Out" meeting. We've discussed going to a movie, but that's kind of hard to do and still be able to talk or whatever! We are going to do the pottery thing (a session at a paint-your-own pottery store), but that's about it. We're in need of some good suggestions that we can do as adults ranging from age 21 to 60-something. (So please no club ideas ! Thanks for your help!

Perhaps a cookout or other meal can be done at a members home, if enough room is available...that is a nice casual way of getting together.
I also saw a unique team building exercise that can be done by alums, undergrads, or combined.
All the participants stand in a circle (I would break them into groups of 10 or so, if you have a large number of people). Everyone puts their hands out, and grabs one hand from another person (they can't be both hands from the same person). Then, the group is told, without letting go of hands, to untie the knot - so the end result is everyone standing in a large circle. It is a good teamwork and bonding situation, as things can get very interesting with people getting contorted as the knot untangles.

I know you mentioned no movies, but you might see (I'm not sure where you are at) about renting out a movie theater at one of these dinner and a movie places. They have low lighting in the theater, they serve dinner, drinks.
Another idea is maybe catch a baseball game.
Or
When I was in atlanta, i was always taking guests to the botanical gardens - I think you can arrange for a speaker or craft session. Gardens are large sisters can go wander about. meet back at the "club house" or most have grassy areas that you can have a packed lunch at.
Progressive dinners are also very positive.

These are all great ideas, thanks. Unfortunately we are very small (only about 30 members and of that only 8 regularly participate) so I don't think we could afford the movie theatre thing (but it would be cool for my other groups). The baseball game thing is cool - I can get free tix to our single A league so I'll definitely suggest it. The progressive dinner thing NEVER seems to work with us. People get tired after the first or second house, and then only 1 or 2 people show up for the last house (and these sisters aren't too happy not that I can blame them!)
That's another problem of ours...we only have about 8 alumnae sisters who actively participate in things (including ritual!) I am the head social planner for the alum chapter so I know how hard it is to even get people to RSVP. We hopefully will work on this at our officers meeting next month.
Thanks again for all the suggestions! I really appreciate it!

It's not really a "night out" item, but have you tried a games night at someone's home? Things like Taboo can be a lot of fun and have the added benefit of getting people talking. Seriously!

What a great idea! Thanks - but I can't play Taboo anymore thanks to a very embarrasing moment during a game one night! Maybe I'll email you about it!

Oh my, then I won't even suggest "Scruples!"
I'd love to hear your story, though!
I was thinking there are other games along those lines (like Taboo) but can't think of any names - anyone know of other good ones for group fun & interaction?

of those!
