The 2006 Carnation Rush Thread
Hola! For about the first time since 2000, none of our daughters are rushing (for newbies, I have 5 Greek daughters so far). But we do have several friends whose daughters are rushing, so upon request from several GCers, I will try to do a recruitment thread for all of them.
Right off hand I can think of 5 girls who are rushing at Auburn, 1 at Ga Tech, and 1 at UGa. All of them and/or their moms have promised to update me but that may fall through once parties start!
Recruitment parties start at Auburn on Monday. War Eagle! The first 2 days, they'll have 16 ice water teas (8 each day). The next 2 days, they have 12 parties, 6 each day. Cuts should be heavy after those parties. Now I'm forgetting exactly which parties they have next but they finish with 3 pref parties and Bid Day is the 13th. Bid Day is a huge big deal at Auburn, with hundreds of parents going down to be outside when their daughters get their bids and run to the sorority receptions.
I'm going to be really original this year! I'm going to call the girls Red, Yellow, Blue, Green, and Purple. (Rainbow order is the only way I can remember who's who.) I'll try my best to get daily updates although I won't contact them until first parties are over--it's so wild at first. Good luck, Rainbow Girls!

Holy crap that's a lot! Doing the math quickly in my head 1300/16 = potential pledge classes of 81!?

but you also have to account for the women who will be dropped or will drop out themselves.

If 25% drop / get dropped, potential pledge classes (quota) would be 61. Still quite large.

But from what I've been told and heard, that is normal for an SEC school or large southern school (such as FSU or University of South Carolina). I could be wrong though...

I expect quota, as usual, will be pretty big. Ever since Auburn instituted the new release figures, which seem to work quite well there, almost everyone has gotten quota. Last year I believe that 15 of 16 groups took quota.
Oh boy! I'm expecting to see scads of new members wearing arrows, keys, anchors, tridents, and all those other cool pins! Warrrr EAGLE!!!!

I totally agree! I think a pledge class of 5 is too small and one of over 60 is too big, the ideal pc i would say is in the 30's. but I will be dreaming to get one that size...I can't wait to hopefully meet my new sisters!! Only 17 days left until Bid Day!

I don't know of many groups that aren't already at AU that could take on a school like that.

Point made, though it would seem in the panhellenic best interest to bring someone else on campus...
