Alum Newsletter

I'm the Alum Relations Coordinator for ZD Chapter in Towson, I am supposed to create an Alum Newsletter. We're a growing chapter and this position wasn't previously filled until last semester, so I don't have any template to kind of go off of. Do you all have any ideas or resources to help me?

If you have a good amount of email addresses, I would go with an e-mail format.

Other than that, have each officer give you a monthly/quarterly report and include that. Attach the chapter's calendar, if possible, highlighting any events that the Alums would be interested in attending.

I would also invite Alums to email you updates, such as address changes, births, marriages, engagements, deaths, etc...and include those in the newsletter.

Hope that at least gives you a start.

Also, if you scroll to the bottom of the page, there's a list of related threads that could be helpful.

If there's a collegiate chapter you support, maybe a small article about what they are up to as well? I always love reading that.

Microsoft Publisher has a great newsletter template that I've used. Makes ordinary news look very professional!

I say start small. The email idea is a good one. Maybe do it twice a year. I also think something from the undergrad chapter is necessary. If you don't have that, then your newsletter will be nothing but wedding and baby announcements! haha

When I was alumni relations chair (during my undergrad years, where I held the position for 2 years) we did a brief newsletter every quarter which was just a letter stating our goals, accomplishments (ie community service projects we'd worked on, etc) and recruitment totals. About a page, mostly qualitative, not alot of solid figures, but more feel-good stuff.

Essentially it was like one of those mass letters you get from distant relatives who live in a faraway land except from the fraternity.
