Dallas Cowboy Cheerleaders on CMT

I just watched most of a reality show on CMT that covered the tryouts for Dallas Cowboy Cheerleaders. Oh My. I missed the very beginning, but they showed a few clips of uh, let's say, pudgy women in dance chorts and sports bras. Ouch. Then, on the other end of the spectrum, the boss lady was brutal about the weight of the finalists. Did anyone else see this? They started with 1,000 women and ended with just 36.

I saw it too. I think I know which lady you are referring to. If you have more rolls than a bread basket, you do not belong in hot pants and a dance top. PERIOD! (I know my limits, and I'm not running around in them either.) Their uniform isn't exactly kind to the figure. I'm amazed by some of them who have kids at home and still look that great. Then again running after children and then working on 50+ routines and dancing probably helps.

The whole time I was watching it I was thinking, "::sniff::...I miss dancing and performing." Good times, good times.

i watched it twice . we got some hotties on that squad and they sure dont mess around. the entire selection process is very long and tedious. i believe they also have to take a cowboys history test.

There were 2 moments that were completely hilarious to me.
1. During the interview, the boss lady asked why the girl should be entrusted to wear the Dallas uniform, and the girl responded that she would launder it and return it after the season. Of course the woman was not asking about the clothing. I split a rib on that.
2. When the boss lady randomly asked current news or Cowboy history questions, and one girl could not even come up with a current event. Not a current Dallas cowboy event, mind you, but ANY current event about anything in the whole world.

I watched that show. You have to be in great shape to be a DCC or in any other dance team in the NFL, NBA, or arena football. In January, I will start my training to possibly try out for the DCC in 2007 (reason is becasue my aunt is graduation in May and I dont' wan to miss it. And besides, I need to shed a few pounds).

About the weight thing, you have to be a certain weight to be in a dance team. For example, at the U of M, the majorettes have to have a low body mass index to qualify for auditions. It's brutal, but that's the way it is.

I was laughing when one of the girls fell on her kicks.

Also, one of the women who auditioned eight times didn't make it past the second round. It's obivious why. Her dancing skills are not good. I admire her for not giving up, but if her dancing skills are not good, then why isn't she getting a lot of training? Is she nervous? I mean she's been up on eight times. She shouldn't feel nervous. This auditioning for more than 4 times must be killing a girl's ego.

All I've got to say it that if you didn't make it and you have no dance experience, take lessons and get in shape.

Random question, but does anyone remember back in the late 70's, early 80's when the DCC appeared on The Love Boat?

Does anyone know the name of the cheerleader who appeared on the show with the long blond pig tails? I want to see what she has done since being a DCC.

Thanks.

That's the least of my sins.

As an aside, I actually saw this show about a week ago. Interesting stuff.

Tennessee was well represented in the squad this year. There is one from Memphis, one from Nashville, and one from Knoxville.
