DURING THE SOUTHEAST REGIONAL CIVIL RIGHTS ADVOCACY TRAINING INSTITUTE
NAACP Branches from across the Southeast and various Civic and Social Organizations will gather in Charlotte, NC at the Westin Hotel on, Saturday April 1, 2006 to honor two stalwart fighters of justice and equality.
Mr. Ozell Sutton who is a Life Member of the NAACP and a former Regional Director of the Community Relations Services of the United States Department of Justice and past general president of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Inc.
Mr. C.C. Bryant who was elected NAACP president of the Mississippi Pike County Branch in 1954, and served as First Vice President of Mississippi State Conference under the leadership of field secretary Medgar Evers and state president Aaron Henry.
Both will be awarded the Aaron Henry Lifetime Service Award at the Medgar W. Evers Freedom Awards Banquet on Saturday April 1, 2006 at 7:00 p.m. at the Southeast Region Civil Rights Advocacy Training Institute.
In celebration of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Inc. Centennial celebration, the NAACP will also pay a special tribute to the work and legacy of America’s first African American intercollegiate Fraternity.
