I'm pretty sure its in the Risk Management forum because it has been associated to a fraternity event.

although, I doubt the fact that it was a fraternity even had anything to do with the shooting. It could have been any club, any where.

i've been to a couple of alpha parties at the ranch. they are ALWAYS packed which means the parking lot is always packed. and there is one door, so escaping something like that is almost impossible. i feel so bad for the boy's family. he was pretty young. such a sad, sad thing to happen.

we don't currently have an active alpha phi alpha chapter at unt... so that's interesting that they're co-hosting events.

The school seems to be recognizing them.

thanks for the link preciousjeni

It really is a tragic event, but like most people said, I don't think the actual fraternity had anything to do with the shootings.. it unfortunately could have happened anywhere (Dallas was just named #1 with worst crime rate for 6th straight year.. at least that was also in the news)

I feel really bad for the families of the victims

Completely unrelated to the shootings, but I am glad the fire marshalls were enforcing an occupancy limit... parties/clubs could be dangerous if something were to go wrong and there were too many people in there to move

You know...a great PR event for the greeks down in Dallas would be to work with kids that are at a high risk of committing violent crimes when they become older.

Yes it would be lots of hard work and lots of time. But it would really show the community that you can band together and work for the betterment of that community.

Just a thought

yeah, they also recognize sigma tau gamma on the unt website, which has been gone for years, and there are other numerous errors with that website. if i remember correctly they still recognize SAE on there too, but they might not.
moral of the story: they don't update, and alpha and SAE were kicked off this year, which is prolly why they're still on there.

i talked to my homeboy that's an alpha from another area school there. he was, of course, at the party and said that the young man wasn't at the party because he was underage. he said that his mother is trying to put it on the frat, but he couldn't get in because he's underage and he shouldn't have been out because dallas does have a curfew. the young man was not killed at the party, he was killed at a closed liquor store nearby.

I knew that was going to happen, as soon as I read the article. Sounds like the org was totally doing what it needed to--they should not be held liable for the actions of unassociated people outside/removed from the event.... They had no duty to that poor boy-other than to make sure he didn't get in to the party & break the law. I feel for the his mother-she must be devastated, but I hope, for once, the fraternity is not held accountable for this kid being in the wrong place at the wrong time.

Or is this , " A, lets try to get Greek Organizations, They a have money"!

Quick Hijack:you're sure about that? Nationals still got their web link on the Active chapter roster section of their web site.

back to the subject:

It's very unfortunate but the chapter shouldn't be held liable because of what happened to the young kid.
