Something old, something new, something borrowed, and something blue
For those of you who are married, or are planning a wedding, what have you chosen?
My choices:
Something old: A string of pearls that I hope to inherit someday from my mother.
Something new: My wedding dress and veil (I hand-made the veil)
Something borrowed: My original plan was to borrow my mother's black and white pearl ring. (Lovely ring - one black and one white pearl and two little diamonds. But the rabbi who married us would not allow us to wear any rings (even our engagement rings) so my something borrowed was a multi-strand pearl bracelet that I borrowed from my mother.
Something blue: Blue topaz drop earrings that I bought for myself. (At the same time, I bought my bridesmaids' gifts: pearl drop earrings.)

Something new: my dress
Something old: a cord my grandfather wore when he was in the Canadian Navy, I had it wrapped around the handle of my bouquet (also so he was with me on my wedding day: got married in June 2011, he passed away in Sept 2008)
Something barrowed: a bracelet from one of my OPA sisters
Something blue: my garter

something new: dress
something old: my grandmother's wedding ring-she was faithful to my grandfather until the day she died, even though he died 20 years earlier
something borrowed: my parent's cake topper
something blue: blue ribbon on my garter

Old: Handkerchief
New: Pretty much everything else
Borrowed: My great grandmother's wedding ring (on the right hand) - technically, the ring is mine, but I haven't laid claim to it yet, so...
Blue: Kind of proud of this one. My husband had a much-loved great aunt who was really special to him. She died several years before we met (at the age of 93). He gave me a large fuzzy blue button from her favorite robe, and we sewed it into the crinolines of my dress.

My choices:
Something old: The black dress I was wearing was at least a year old.
Something new: Errr...
Something borrowed: ummmm...Does it count that my wedding ring was borrowed until the right color gold came in?
Something blue: My blue eyes!
Oh well, I got married by a justice of the peace in the middle of a small restaurant in Shreveport, LA with 6 people in attendance. Freaked the owner of the restaurant out (his wife worked with us). We got free dessert for the whole group and a bottle of champagne for our first anniversary from the restaurant! To this day, we are the only couple to have gotten married there.

A silver sixpence.
I made no attempt to acquire one, and having a coin (of any denomination) in my shoe when I was going to spend most of the day on my feet just sounded uncomfortable. I have heard of brides taping a coin to the sole of one shoe - if you're wearing heels and you tape it to the part of the sole that doesn't touch the floor, you wouldn't even know it was there.

Something old: The last piece of jewelry my parents had given me was pinned inside my dress (an eternity necklace), and my grandmother's diamond earrings.
Something new: a handkerchief embroidered for me - I knew I would be missing my parents, but it was better than I thought.
Something borrowed: At the last minute, I realized that I had forgotten to bring my pin, so I emailed the sisters I had invited, and GC's ASUADPi & polarpi came through with their pins! One was the new turquoise pin and the other had aquamarine points.
Something blue: See above! (Plus, there was blue everywhere!)

Something old: my veil. It was the veil my grandmother wore when she married my grandfather, and in a strange twist we got married on her birthday (we hadn't planned it, only found out after we told pop what the date was).
Something new: Dress
Something borrowed: I wore an opal necklace that belonged to my grandmother but was then given to my mother. It's pretty special because I've worn it for almost all of my "grown up" events. I also had a coin in my shoe that was loaned to me by my mother, but had belonged to a dear family friend.
Something blue: I had my earlobes stretched a bit at that time, and I wore beautiful lapis lazuli plugs in them.

I'm still trying to hammer this out...right now I'm thinking:
Old: My wedding band will be my great-great-grandma's and my headpiece was my grandma's.
New: Dress
Borrowed: ??
Blue: I think an aquamarine bracelet my dad gave me.

Something old: My grandmother's cameo pin. (She died before I was born.)
Something borrowed: I borrowed my sil's dress, at my mil's insistence (stupid mistake...although the dress was gorgeous and very expensive...it wasn't me AND two weeks before the wedding sil decided that she wanted to die the dress green...that day.)
Our rabbi had no problems with diamonds anywhere.........my new was my wedding band.

Fun! Still trying to figure out what mine will be:
Something old: I think I may attach the lavalier he gave me (and the one I got for chapter installation) to my bouquet, like this: http://pinterest.com/pin/286893438731992926/
Something new: dress
Something borrowed: No idea yet--perhaps jewelry from my mom?
Something blue: My aunt is making my garter (as well as my veil and jewelry--she is VERY talented) and I'm going to ask her to put blue in it
