Question In need of advice...

I know people won't think too much of me after reading this. Well, I'm at a dilemia.Well a few years ago I applied, and got accepted for memberhsip into a welll known Sorority at a hbcu. After i got accepted, I never went through with joining, because I just didn't like how I was being treated by the member's, they were demeaning, discouraging, disrespectful, it just wasn't cut out for me and plus I was going through alot of stuff personally. It just wasn't for me.Two years have passed. I 've recently graduated, and I've became acquainted with a few member's of a totally different sorority and they are fabolous. They are friendly, encouraging, respectful, and courteous.I enjoy them alot.I have pondered the thought of joing this organization, but I 'm having second thoughts because i don't know how the people will act towards me if anyone finds out that I applied for memberhsip for a different organization. Plus I don't won't to be given the title as being "wishy washy".Should I or Shouldn't I ? Please help

It depends on the situation, and, even though I do not know your full story, I do not think you did anything wrong and I would not hold that against you. However, if you did become an initiated member of a NPC sorority, then you cannot join and become an initiated member of another NPC sorority. Good luck to you!
According to the OP, she went through intake at an HBCU (Historically Black College/University)...which leads me to believe that she's not trying to get membership into an NPC, so your advice would be irrelevant to her situation.

To the OP, I get the feeling you're interesting in one of the NPHC sororities. While I am not in one, my suggestion is to be discreet. Avoid airing your laundry online because judging from what I've read by folks in similar situations, things like this aren't received well here on GreekChat...but you probably already know this judging from your first sentence.

Sure, you might get clowned for having applied to another organization when you were in college. If people find out about it. There was a time a long time ago when it was common and "accepted" to drop line for one org and pledge another one. That time has passed.

The only thing I'd say to you is that you need to research ORGANIZATIONS and NOT people. If you are offered membership into this sorority through an alumnae chapter, you may very well find that you don't like the women in this chapter as much as you once did. What are you going to do? Seek a different chapter or a different organization?
