Arrow Miss Teen African American Pageant

MISS TEEN AFRICAN AMERICAN, "DEVELOPING QUEENS BEYOND THEIR TEENS" IS HOLDING ITS 2ND ANNUAL NATIONAL SCHOLARSHIP PAGEANT AND DEVELOPMENT PROGRAM

Kehsi Iman Wilson, Miss Teen African American 2006
Charlotte, NC (BlackNews.com) - Miss Teen African American Scholarship Pageant is holding its second annual national scholarship pageant and development program for young women of color in celebration and for the preservation of their diverse beauty and culture.

The Miss Teen African American Scholarship Pageant and Development Program is an excellent proving ground for young women who are the best and the brightest of today and the leaders of tomorrow. By participating in this pageant and development program you will "Train to Reign".

The program is more than the typical five day, production centered competition. It is a preparatory course in self development designed to equip the young women with a defined sense of self and purpose that leads to a more disciplined and courageous life. The contestants will be educated in both technical and practical life enhancing skills through the use of written materials, participation in enrichment sessions, and hours of hands-on training.

The excitement begins July 6th – 22nd, 2007, in the "Queen City" Charlotte, North Carolina. The winner will receive a $5,000 cash scholarship for college and an extensive prize package valued at over $5,000. Teen girls 15 to 18 years of age interested in representing their state can apply for acceptance into the program. The application deadline is January 31, 2007.

Good stuff for the young women. I'm proud to say that my baby sister was Miss Black Atlanta a few years ago.

These pageants are good for the young women in many cases.

I have a pageant director friend who would be interested in this. She runs a Miss Black Shreveport pageant with categories of all ages for African-American women and girls.

I remember some years ago there was a "Miss Collegiate African-American" pageant, where the winner was crowned in African garb. Would any of you know what happened to it?
