Charter Members

As a charter member of my chapter I have been an eye witness to how hard it is to start a new chapter. And I was thinking... could we have an emblem that would signify who were charter members? I would like to include the first 2 years of pledge classes in this because they are also really involved in getting a chapter going and stay going. Anyone have an option on this?

I have emailed IHQ but wanted to get others options to see if there was an interest in this. I don't know what one has to do to get a new offical emblem passed but... I'm willing to try.

I was thinking that an acorn would be good because an acorn is the seed that gets the tree going and sets the roots. I don't know, it is just an idea.

Arin

Also, the emblem could go to anyone who was involved in the planning and organization of the chapter. And the chapter name could be engraved on the acorn, so that you could have more than one hanging between your badge and the guard.

Arin--
That is a great idea!!!
Let us know what IHQ says. I was also a charter member--and it is alot of work---I know everyone in my chapter shared more than our fair share of blood, sweat and tears. But during installation--it was all worth it--- we received OUR charter!!!
Great Idea!!!

Just as an added piece of information... Alpha Xi Delta has a special new member pin for colony members. It looks like the regular new member pin ( an elipse with the letters on it) but instead of the black back ground it has gold and is surrounded by by a gold link chain. Colony members usually continue to wear their colony pin as a guard after initiation.

Go here to see: http://www.alphaxidelta.org/insignia.asp

I've always thought it was a special way to honor sisters who have done something special.
