How PNM's go through rush every year at your school?
I'm just curious:
How many go through at your school?
What % of them get bids?
How many sororities usually participate?
My school gets about 200 girls going through.
I think 97% of them get bids (not receiving ANY bid at all is really rare here).
There are 6 sororities here.

Only about 40 go through recruitment and I would say about 95% get bids and all 4 of our sororites participate. We are a small greek campus though with total at 34.

Late 90's, we had very high numbers of PNMs at UCF, we just a few hundred short of a thousand going through. There was very little COB/COR.
Our new member classes were in the 60s and 70s. We've added more sororities throughout. I pledged in 97 with 7 NPC sororities. In 2004, there are 11 NPC sororities. Great growth.
As a PX in 99, I can tell you that I had girls who were cut completely after round 2 or were cross-cut after prefs, but ALL were offered snap bids. Some accepted and others refused. We told our PNMs to keep an open mind, and while you might not get your first or second choice, it was very likely you would get a bid to a chapter.
I think all of the UCF sororities are full of great women, and I'd be proud to represent any of those groups...
However, as an emotional PNM it's often hard to see the forest for the trees once you've invested yourself in an entire summer of pre-preparation, expectation and the real thing!

11? Did we add another sorority? I know we're supposed to sometime this year. As of now, we have ADPi, AZD, XO, DDD, DG, Theta, KD, KKG, PiPhi, and ZTA.
PNM numbers were in the 1000's by Recruitment 2000. Even with the addition of 3 sororities since adpiucf's days, we still have new member classes that range from the 67-71 women.

ZTAngel,
I'm hallucinating. You see, 33girl and I finally agreed on something over in the Greek Life Forum. Must've caused me to invent another UCF sorority... LOL J/K
Wouldn't it be exciting to get down to a new member class of 40??? I don't think they've had one that small since the 80s!!!!
PS: Whatever happened to the Latina sorority that was affiliated with Lambda Theta Phi? There was talk of them joining campus Panhellenic, but we voted against it b/c they didn't want to follow the same Panhellenic rules as the other sororities on campus.

@ Mizzou
@ Mizzou
Not sure about how many guys go through... I'm sure theres quite a few, but it is mostly all informal rush... 27 fraternities I think
I was reading an article about formal sorority rush in 2003 and got these #s...
14 Sororities
1,010 women went through rush...
810 found their home in a sorority...
So thats what? 80%?
Formal rush is very competitive and stressful at Mizzou... While it is oh so exciting to watch, this is why I'm glad that I'm a guy and don't have to participate in formal rush.

At our small state school, about 100 girls sign up to go through formal recruitment, but by the end, it's always down to between 60-70. Out of those 70, I'd say 95% get bids, mostly to their first choice. Average NM class after formal recruitment is 5-7, but after COB, it's usually higher. For instance, this semester, D Phi E took 6 new women from formal recruitment, and added 9 more through COB, for a total of 15.

Thanks for finding these statistics! I was just about to go get them!
I worked Rush last year, helping out around Sigma Kappa & help counting the Bid cards on the last day. I'm telling you-it was crazy! Especially the amount of girls that withdrew this past year. I watched a few girls sit for over an hour w/ their cards & then bring it up to us w/ the "withdrawn" circle filled in. Its heart wrenching to know that these girls went through a whole week & still didn't find a home!

At Northern Arizona University there are 6 sororities that participate in formal recruitment... The past few years quota has been around 20... We have about 150 women at the beginning of recruitment, but we do get a chunk that drop out of their own accord... Overall if they make it all the way through recruitment (don't drop out or not get invited back by any chapter (only seen that happen to two women in all my 4 years)) and do not suicide they will receive a bid. So generally maybe 2 women don't get bids on bid day from suiciding...

Wow! That's a large range in Chapter size at FSU. Even if the chapter with 49 women is taken out there is still about a 70 person difference between 133 and 202!

I don't have exact stats, but...
Back in the day, about 180-200 women showed up for formal recruitment. (Actually, all 450 or so incoming freshman women were considered "registered" initially, so every year we had to justify why less than half of them were invited back to round 2!) Quota was usually around 30, with AEPhi getting a "special" quota of around half that (we wanted to remain a bit smaller). There were usually only 2-3 women who attended through pref and then didn't match. The rest dropped out after being disappointed by their round 2 or pref invites.
Now, my school has gone to deferred recruitment, and numbers are lower. I'm not sure how many registered or dropped out, but quota was (I think) 26 this year and 21 last year ( )
They don't understand the concept of a snap bid at my school.
There are 5 NPC sororities participating in FR.
