Smile Honeymoon spots :)

So the beautiful pictures BobbyTheDon posted in the wedding locations thread (and the ones in bcdphie's post) made me wonder: While we're doing threads about everything else having to do with our weddings, where is everyone going on their honeymoon?

We are currently looking at New Zealand, Southern Europe and The Carribbean. I've left the planning to my fiance and he's being pretty secretive about it .

We went to Aruba. One of these years we're going back.

Word of warning: If you're planning on changing your name and you're leaving for your honeymoon right after your wedding, book your travel under your current / maiden name. This is especially true if you're traveling internationally - it takes FOREVER to change a name on a passport.

We booked our hotel room under my maiden name, because we were using my frequent-guest points. For our entire honeymoon, we were Mr. and Mrs. aephialumsmaidenname. My husband was less than thrilled.

Ooh! I just got back from Aruba -- we were there just two weeks ago. Where did you stay?

We went to Turks & Caicos for our honeymoon. Here are some pics that I found online:

There is a dolphin, JoJo that swims around the islands, and he'll swim right up to you while you're in the water! We saw him while we were there, but he didn't stay long.

I'll try to upload some of my honeymoon pics onto a website and see if I can get them posted on here.

We stayed at the Hyatt Regency Aruba ... and spent a lot of time on the beach.

I'd want to stay at a yurt in the mountains somewhere. I don't do planes and I don't like the beach. Anyway, you're supposed to be having sex all the time so why go far?

I know it! We stayed next door - at the Allegro! We wandered into the Hyatt's casino one night (they had $5 min. blackjack. ).

It's funny - we had the travel channel on in our room, and they were doing the top 10 Caribbean beach resorts, and the Hyatt Aruba came in at #10. We were like - hey! That's right there!

I made that point to my fiance - to book it under my maiden name: If we go to Europe my British passport expires just before I get married and I don't want to renew until I am legally married -don't want to have my maiden name on that passport as they are renewed every 10 years. Besides my fiance has to renew his British passport too, so we'll just wait on that one. I just renewed my Canadian passport last year, so my maiden name will be on it for while.

We're not honeymooning right away because we don't have vacation time or $. We're saving up for a month in Australia/New Zealand. We want to go back to Perth, Sydney, Whitsunday Islands, Magnetic Island, and Cairns in Aussie. Mr. Xylo wants to stop in Bora Bora, too. As much as it sucks, we may have to wait til the 5 year anniversary to afford it

We honeymooned (10 years ago) in Jamaica and return to our beloved island about every 2-4 years, depending on finances. For our 10-year anniversary, we are going to London and follow that up with a 12-day cruise to the Baltics and St. Petersburg....

Traveling is our life!! LOL

We had narrowed it down to 2 places. Either the Atlantis Resort in Paradise Island, Bahamas orSheraton Hacienda del Mar Resort & Spa in Mexico.

Mexico won b/c the fiance loves the food & is trying hard to learn the language. He's funny.

We'll likely be spending the week before Christmas there or we'll defer the honeymoon a bit & do it during the New Years holiday.

Mr. RN and I went to Italy for our honeymoon-it was so wonderful!! All we did was eat, sleep late, and drink wine. And see some of the sites. I have never been so relaxed in my life! And I am so ready to go back!
For our 1 year anniversary we went down to Costa Rica for 8 days which was also amazing! Lots of pool/beach time and frozen drinks. On our 2nd day there, we upgraded to the nicest suites there and got our own butler! Very fun. I was just wishing yesterday that someone would bring me some nachos and a frozen bahama mama. Alas, real life...

A fun site for places in the caribbean is www.caribbeanway.com
They have resorts listed as well as villas, and even islands for rent!!

I'm soooo excited about going to Mexico. Granted I've been to Mexico a few times before but never to that part of the country & I always went to see relatives. This time, it's all about us & the relaxation.
