When my husband and I got married (27 years ago this year!), we recessed (walked out) to the congregation singing the hymn "Let All Things Now Living."
Let all things now living a song of thanksgiving
To God the Creator triumphantly raise,
Who fashioned and made us, protected and stayed us,
Who still guideth us on to the end of our days.
His banners are o’er us,
His light goes before us,
A pillar of fire shining forth in the night,
‘Til shadows have vanished and darkness is banished,
as forward we travel from light into light.
There's another verse, too, just Google it. ANYWAY, I have always loved that hymn, and thought the words were great as a benediction as we started our new life together. It is sung to the tune of "The Ash Grove." That is the tune that we sing "On the Heart of Each Sister." Of course, only the Kappas in attendance knew that significance. We also had a great trumpeter doing the descant. But I digress. . .
Wonderful memories. *happy sigh* Congratulations on your engagement.
