Broken Flowers and Thumbsucker

Great movies.

Thumbsucker:
http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0318761/
A little humor, a little family dysfunction, with a smidgeon of drugs makes it an interesting dark plot. It should evoke discomfort for the audience but still keep you wanting more because of the humor.

Really great soundtrack.

Broken Flowers:
If you could put About Schmidt and Lost in Translation in to a blender and mix the 2 movies, you would have Broken Flowers.

It's amusing, and humorous, and intelligent enough to leave you thinking without spoon feeding emotions into you.

Note: Do not take a dumb friend to this movie. Their reaction will be "That's such a weird movie".

I thought Broken Flowers was pretty good. Although I'm usually not a fan of inconclusive endings, especially in movies (as opposed to books), I thought this one worked really well.

There were a few badly done cliches and painfully artsy moments that just drew attention to themselves (the dream sequences, for example), but on the whole, I enjoyed it.
