Angry Neck strain

For more than one week, my neck has hurt so much! I can't really move it, for fear of pain. I haven't been able to go out much, except for class, because of the pain!

What can I do to alleviate the pain? I've tried resting, massages, etc...they only help for a slight while.

AHHHHHHH!

Chiropractor?

How did you hurt it?

When you say massage, do you mean by a proffessional? Or yourself or a friend? There is a big difference.

haha, I knew that you'd probably be one of the first ones to reply . I *think* I hurt it b/c I slept wrong or something. My friend is a real good massager, but even after his massage it still really hurt. I also tried elevating my neck with a bunch of pillows...no help.

Today a friend was driving me to class in his car and whenever we hit any bumps on the road (too many in SF), I had to grab my neck and hold it while cringing. Arghh I hate this! I've never had a neck strain like this before! Usually they go away in one day. I've had this for way too long!

Should I go to a regular doctor or a professional masseuse (sp?) or a chiropractor?

Thanks James .

I wholeheartedly vote for a chiropractor...I've gone to them for several years, after experience several bouts of severe, debilitating back pain. Things have really improved since I started treatment!

Re: Neck strain

Sounds like one of those nasty 2-3 day strains, sometimes a little longer. Try some bengay or some such if you can . . . keep the area relaxed as much as possible.

Try a very warm bath or lay in a hot tob for about an hour. If your still not feeling any more relaxed then go to the chiropracter.
