Classy Mixer Ideas
Hey everyone...I am planning out rush for our fraternity for this upcoming Spring and I'm trying to come up with ideas for classy mixers. I don't want to throw the typical wild party type mixer...I'm looking for something that would show the sorority that we are a classy and respectable fraternity. PLEASE HELP!!!

afternoon tea
mocktails
monte carlo night (or a generic casino night, but just remember that monte carlo is "fancier" than a vegas night)

Someone on another thread mentioned a James Bond theme that sounded fun...

What exactly is an exchange? And what would be considered a formal exchange? Someone suggested it recently and I'm just confused.

I think that a formal exchange is kind of like where you agree to do a semi-formal between the two of you with no outsiders.

We just recently had a "classy" mixer with a the SAEs out here... they hosted an etiquette dinner. We learned all the important stuff, like which fork to use and how to properly butter your bread, but the food with which we were working made it all a little more fun. This is what our "5 course meal" looked like:
- bread & butter (graham crackers & icing)
- soup (your choice of Cheerios, Froot Loops, or Golden Grahams)
- salad (fruit roll-ups topped with gushers)
- meat (light meat = Twinkies, dark meat = Ding Dongs)
- dessert (whichever "meat" you chose not to eat the first time around!)
It was really a lot of fun, and the mandatory "boy-girl-boy-girl" seating rule ensured that we all got the chance to talk to some really nice guys from the fraternity.
Plus, every girl likes to have some boy go get her dinner for her... even if it's a bowl of cereal and a Twinkie!

We like going roller skating... maybe with a fun theme. We were doing the Beverly Hillbillies as our Greek Weeek theme, so we and our two partners all dressed up like hillbilles for the social.

What about a 20's flapper/gangster type thing? That could be really classy.

I am planning a 'dukes of hazard' mixer, but can't think of any good events for it...any suggestions?

Our chapter did a murder mystery exchange. It would have been a lot more fun if it wasn't thrown together at the last minute...

I know 2 of the frats and one of the sororities (the frats are smaller than the sororities) here did a mixer last fall which was more of a philanthropy event.
Philanthropy is always classy.

But anything you can incorporate the word Hoez is sufficiently classy.
