Living In The Dorms

I always say that I was LUCKY enough not to live in the dorms. Now I regret that I didn't

Most people here at SDSU can't stand dorm life. It's cramped, it's strict, it's noisy. But just knowing people at the dorms, I see that they meet a lot more people this way. Since I've lived off campus until I moved into Fraternity Row, I only got to meet so many people outside Delta Sig. The few friends I make in my classes I hardly ever see once semester is over.

So, in short, I actually wish I had experienced dorm life.

You guys agree or not?

Dorms are part of the real college life. I wish we had them so I'd get the chance to complain about them!

I hated the dorms, thats why I moved out after one quarter (back in the day before we switched to semesters). I even gave up the deposit to get the heck out.

I loved the dorms when I lived there, and I miss them now. Then again my nickname is "Miss Social", so how could I go wrong living around hundreds of people??

I lived in the dorms for my 1st 3 years. It does help you meet people, and sometimes it's nice to be close to campus. My roommate (for all 3 of those years!) and I became good friends with the 2 girls across the hall from us. We all graduated a few years ago and STILL hang out together at least a few times a year. My favorite year for living arrangements was my junior year when I was on the Phi Beta hall (our campus doesn't have greek houses) and I was always in the middle of fraternity stuff.

My senior year I had an apartment with a couple of friends, and that was nice, too. No dorm rules, a real kitchen to cook in (instead of crappy school food), etc. I'm happy I had my dorm experience, especially my freshman year when I was meeting people but I was also happy to sort of grow out of it.

I lived in the dorms for two years. My first year, I lived in a dorm that was pretty far off campus, so that sucked. I also hated my roommate, who, putting it nicely, was a dork of the highest order. So that was bad.

Sophomore year, I lived in a dorm that was right on campus and I had a single room. That was *awesome* because I was right by everything and I had friends close by, but when I wanted time alone, all I had to do was go to my room. That was the best of all worlds.

Hated it freshman year because two girls wanted me to move into their house but I couldn't because of the rules.

Sophmore year I got a great friend and brother out of living in dorms.

As cramped and noisy as they were, I am thankful for having the experience. I met so many interesting people.
Although my roommate was weird (actually, weird is an understatement) and my suitemates were drunkards, it was still a lot of fun. Definitely not an environment for an upperclassman but, as a freshman, it was fine.
I would wake up fifteen minutes before class began. That was nice.
I definitely enjoy having my own room now.

I lived in the dorms all 4 years of college, and for the most part I loved it.

Freshman year was pretty miserable. Frosh are typically placed in crowded rooms - 3 people in a double, 4 people in a triple, etc. I had 2 roommates - one was an absolute b!tch, and the other wasn't much better. But, someone moved off my floor in the middle of spring semester, and I inherited her single

So, for the rest of the year, I had plenty of space and privacy, but most of the other frosh were jealous of me since it's unheard of for a freshman to have a single.

Soph, junior, and senior years were great. I had the most awesome suitemates my senior year!

My dorm had a suite setup where each suite had several rooms, a common room, kitchen and bathroom. This was great because I love to cook, and to say the food in the dining hall sucked would be an understatement. Although, I do wish my sorority had had a house, I would have liked to have spent one year living with my sisters.

Although I'm glad I don't live in the dorms anymore, I'm glad I did it last year... I came down here only knowing one other person, and now so many of my friends down here are people I've met in the dorms... Yeah, everyone's gonna complain about the cramped space, the food, the fire alarms, etc.. but in the end I think it's a great experiences because it's unlike any other, and you do meet a lot of people this way- kinda hard not to when you're living with hundreds of other people for a year.

hands down i loved the dorms. they allowed me to meet so many people, and still have a meal card!! lol. i honestly miss the start of the school year when you have tons of new people to meet that live on your floor. i also miss hanging out at the pool or in the grill where i always meet someone from another floor in my building, or even kids from some of the other dorms.

I know this is dorky, but I love living in the dorms. Of course, I'm a really social person so I love being able to just walk down the hall and visit someone whenever I want . . . but the dorms here aren't that bad, so I think I'm lucky.

I lived on campus, moved off campus, moved back on, and moved off. Each situation had its strengths and weaknesses. I prefered off campus living because I had a single, but the commute to campus was a pain in the neck.

The dorms are okay, sometimes I love it, and other times I hate it. Next year I hopefully will get to live in our house, and if I can't then I am going to request a single room, because I can't deal with my roommate having her boy over and getting pissed because I am in the room. I'd say, overall, if you have a chance to live in the dorms, do it, at least once, it's a good experience.
