Maybe someone can correct me, but I don't think DG actually names the "top" chapter in the nation. DG awards outstanding chapters by the Patricia Peterson Danielson award, which takes # of members (total, quota, etc.), GPA, chapter involvement in other activities, leadership in those activities, programming, and a few other things. Several chapters are awarded this award at convention every other year. I guess the way to determine the strength of VT's chapter is to look at the number of awards they've won through DG and through VT.
I have friends at VT who have said they're a strong chapter, and I've met several of the women and they represent DG well.

I agree
It's hard to choose just one chapter as the strongest! There are great DG chapters from the East coast to the West - and each has its good points that vary from chapter to chapter. Many times a chapter may be considered "strong", but not the best example of what a chapter should be from EO's perspective as well. That's why what Lil'Hannah said is the best way of gauging strong chapters - by which ones receive the Patricia Petersen Danielson Award...they are often great chapters from the inside on out.

I would say that the USC chapter would be in the running...
Delta Gamma's Alpha Nu chapter is the largest sorority at USC as well as the largest Delta Gamma chapter nationwide boasting over 200 members! Our chapter is well known for campus and community involvement, philanthropic events, and our fun social events!
Pledge Class 1999: 51 members
Pledge Class 2000: 50 members
Pledge Class 2001: 64 members

From the other USC (the east coast one)...
I think it's just a matter of what you want to look at, as far as how "quality" the chapter is. That's why there are different sororities in the first place. What I've been told about Duke and Harvard's chapters is that they both have very high reputations because they are the "smart" girls on campus, but I've heard that chapters in Florida (Florida St. and UF, particularly) have the "cutest" girls. But, what's most important, is that we all know that DG is the BEST sorority out there, no matter WHAT chapter!:-)

That very may well be true because from what I have seen all of the FSU and UF DG's are very very pretty.

A little biased, UF?;-) We also heard that you had a cool t-shirt design... something that I don't think our ATC's would ever approve... something like the Absolut design or something? Is this true, or is there some other shirt like that? If so... I'll trade ya!;-)

The DG chapter at UF is very strong. Most of the girls in that chapter are very cute and I have the pleasure of knowing many of them. Before my chapter was kicked off of campus, the only sorority most of us pikes hung out with were the ladies from DG. We still hang out with the ones our age and some newbies from the more recent PCs.They are fun to hang out with. The ladies in that chapter are intelligent, cute, mannerly and and loyal to their sisters. You ladies are well represented by the UF chapter. I have heard the same about the Florida State chapter.

I had a Chi O ask me one time where I thought we were the strongest. I think (and y'all can correct me if I'm wrong) DG's the strongest in California, Mississippi, Florida (ESP. UF and FSU), and Ohio. One of our girls is OBSESSED with the Southern Miss (I think that's right) chapter b/c she thinks it's the best. I'm gonna go back to what I've said before, though... different chapters are strongest for different things. And, PS, I wanna meet some of these oh-so-cute UF girls that everyone keeps talking about!:-) Oh, and I think the U. Tennessee chapter's really strong, too... that's where our ATC's from.

I'm happy to say that we have strong chapters spread all over the nation. I can think of strong chapters off the top of my head in almost any given state - Oregon, Washington, Massachusetts, Virginia, Indiana, Michigan, Texas, Arizona, Missouri, etc. But for probably the biggest concentration of strong chapters, it probably would be California. Cali DGs rock!
