Question What's a lady to do?

Greetings Members of the Forum!
I'm not a member of this organization, but I hope that I will receive some answers to a question that I have been pondering for quite a while.
I have noticed that on my college campus, the members of this sorority do not conduct themselves like ladies. As a matter of fact, I have seen members of this same sorority sitting on opposite sides of the bleachers during basketball games, not speaking to one another when they pass each other on the street, and many more things that are not sisterly.
My concern is: I would like to be a part of this organization, but should I ? Based on the actions I have seen of the current members, I 'm quite hesitant.

If I were you, I would think of all of the reasons that I wanted to be a part of the sorority to begin with. Are your reasons strong enough to overcome what you've seen on campus? Are you strong enough to make a change if you are extended membership? Use those questions to help you make your decision.

Hope this was of assistance to you.

well said TickledPink, that is the question indeed. no one chapter makes the organization and remember we are all flawed, so don't let a few bad apples spoil your goal to become AKA.

Only you can answer that question. Ask yourself why do you want to become a member of Alpha Kappa Alpha to begin with. Make sure that your reasons for wanting to join are valid, otherwise you may be disappointed.

Just because we are members of the same sorority does not automatically make us best friends. When I attended basketball games or ate in the cafeteria, I didn't always sit with my sorors because I chose to sit with my friends who were not members of AKA. When I passed them in the hallways or the sidewalks, we didn't always skee-wee, embrace or wave at each other. We exchanged pleasant smiles sometimes or held up a pinky instead.

Other than my sorors not doing the things you would consider sisterly, tell us about the things they have done that is right in your eyes. What about the events/activities they sponsor on campus? What contributions have they made to the community?

You must remember that Alpha Kappa Alpha goes beyond those memebers on your campus. It is a lifetime committment. It's not about who sits where on the bleachers. We all had lives before AKA. However, we all share common goals.
