big / lil ideas ?

Hey Phi Sig's! I'm in the Delta Phi chapter at Monmouth University, NJ (the biggest sorority on campus). I plan on taking a little next year and I was wondering if anybody has any ideas for what I should do for gifts during pledging and what to decorate her room with? Any creative suggestions are appreciated! Thanks girls, luv ya all!

A tradition that a lot of people have in my chapter is making a wish jar for your little. You buy a jar and yellow and blue ribbons and tie the ribbon into bows. You fill up the jar with the bows and give it your little. Explain to her that to make a wish, she pulls out a bow and unties it and puts it back in the jar. When all the wishes are gone, you (the big) or someone else in your "family" have to retie all the bows (this part sucks!). A new variation that I've seen in putting inspirational quotes in with the wishes! They are really cute, and mean a lot to most of us!

Also, do you have a local mascot? Ours are the teddybear and the sunshine, so we usually buy lots of stuff dealing with the two of them.

Good luck!

gifts

we don't really have a traditional thing that all of us do except for decorating a bottle and giving it to our littles at initiation. other than that, making pin boxes, "good morning and goodnight litttle" posters, family tree posters, giving your little your family tree animal (don't know if you guys have that....my family tree animal is a duck, but don't ask me why), basically we decorate anything we can find with puffy paint, paint pens, and glitter and give it to them during association....cards are good too, especially when they aren't expecting anything.
