Lightbulb GreekChat Manual

I have been thinking (yes I know that's dangerous in the summer!), but with all the Greeks on GreekChat.com why can't we have a GreekChat On-Line Manual to replace the outdated Baird's Manual???

The Baird's Manual used to be the bible of Greek information, but it so outdated that it is only good for historical information now. Since NIC does not seem motivated to update Baird's any time soon, it would really be nice to have an on-line alternative.

If we came up with a simple format page for information on each fraternity/sorority, we could have updated information for each group in NIC, NPC, NPHC, NALFO and PFA and other national/region groups right here on GreekChat.

Exclamation

The main problem with that is Bairds has been around for so long and there are many Organizations that are NO LONGER available!

Some of the best info can come from Pin/Badge Collectors who are hated on this Site!

Trying to update Old Organizations takes Hours of work and some cannot be traced!

Most of the updated are easy to find and can get them back in other threads!

It is a great Idea in theaory put unfortunatlly impractratical.

Bairds was the Bible just like many sites but if they were not fed the Info it is for naught!

To my knowledge, Bairds is not in Print any longer! If not, a Damn Shame!

You're right, Tom, it is out of print and I have no idea when it will be in print, if ever.

I think also difficult (but not impossible) would be the cataloguing of allllllll the newer Fraternities and Sororities, particularly the culturally based ones.

I had some research of exclusively cultural organizations, and there were mini-explosions of them in the 80's and again in the 90's.

It wouldn't have been too hard to update if they had kept up with it, but from what I heard, NIC acquired it and really let it go to pot. They got rid of a lot of the local groups and anything that wasn't NPC or NIC. I know that our information was incorrect.
