Since Artimis already covered our beloved Sisterhood.....
...I'll point out another few that I've learned of since joing on to greekchat - Sigma Alpha, Zeta Sigma Chi, Theta Nu Xi. I know members of each of these organizations post to greekchat, so you should have plenty of info to start on, brooklineu.

As I post these numbers, I wonder which group you'd put Sigma Alpha Sorority in now! We currently have more than 40 active (collegiate) and nearly 20 alumnae chapters. When I joined in 1990, there were about 10 chapters total. Most of our chapters are at the landgrant universities, though certainly not all. We're classified as a professional sorority, with agriculture and related industries as the focus.

Theta Nu Xi...We just founded our 11th colony at the U of Arizona in December. Not bad for a few ladies from the south, huh?
(Thanks for the shout out, equeen )

I didn't know that Theta Nu Xi had a chapter at the UA. I was Panhellenic, I thought that I might know something like that......

No prob, M_V...when I first started posting, there was another Theta Nu Xi sister who posted all the time, which is how I learned of your sisterhood.
Beth, I stand corrected - y'all aren't "Up & Coming," y'all are more like "Established & Here to Stay!"

Absolutely, Equeen! What a difference a decade can make! :-)
We charter a chapter tomorrow at Mizzou - that's on Jan. 26, which is also our national founders' day - so I am really excited about the dates coinciding!

Kappa Beta Gamma has been around since 1917, but there currently are only four active chapters. There have been more, but unfortunately those chapters are no longer active. We here at NMU will become the Lambda chapter March 23rd! There is also another colony in Iowa that is going through the chartering process right now. Our nationals is working hard to keep expanding!
oh yeah, our chapters are all pretty much Midwest... two in Wisconsin, Chicago, Detroit, us in Michigan, and the other colony in Iowa.

Up and coming National GLO's
Gamma Alpha Omega Sorority is an "up and coming" organization. Founded at the Arizona State University campus in 1993, it now has 11 chapters and 3 Charters/Colonies throughout AZ, WA, WI, ID, TX, and OR. I'm also part of the Petitioning Group at Humboldt State University in northern CA. In 2 weeks we'll be going to the National Convention in Milwaukee to make our presentation to become a Charter/Colony, which will make us the first in CA. Wish us luck!

Thanks FuzzieAlum for mentioning Ceres.
I haven't been watching the board in quite a whille. We were founded in 1984 we currently have 8 active chapters and 4 inactive chapters I think. In my opinion we really need a national website. When we changed national presidents a few years ago we lost our website. I am an alum I have volunteered to work on it but the national president wants to beable to put stuff on it herself and I don't think she knows much about html and she has a very old computer so there is not room for the html editing programs.
What do y'all recomend how could we do this that would take away her fears about having someone else putting stuff on the web for her.
What are the benifits of a national website.

I'd think that giving her final approval of any page changes (i.e., sending her the page to approve via e-mail, she should be able to view an html page) might answer her concerns. Also, if there's any chance she can get a newer machine, Netscape Communicator is really easy to use for editing pages. (I'm sure there are others as well.)
Without a national site, it's hard in today's world to share information and gain recognition. That might be something that would change her mind, too. Good luck!
