I read the book a few months ago and loved it. I dragged the hubby last week, and he even liked it (I think Cameron Diaz in her underwear/swimsuit a lot helped
). I thought it was very good, but obviously the book goes into more detail and explains things a lot better (especially about their mother, the "My Marcia" storyline, the relationship with the grandmother). Definitely a good flick, but read the book, too.
One thing I didn't like about the movie was that Toni Collette's character, Rose, was supposedly overweight. In the book she is described as quite large, but in the movie, she's by no means fat. She is thicker than Cameron, yes, but I wouldn't call a size 10 fat.
