As far as rush t-shirts (what we wear before and during recruitment), just the members get them. (Gotta be careful there though......one Sorority XYZ at CSULB got in trouble a last year for having pre-rush shirts that said, "If you are going Greek, Be a Goddess, XYZ

Our bid day shirts, all of members and new members get those.

What is wrong with that shirt?? People get so bent out of shape. Grr.

But anyway, we're making rush shirts. Only members get them. But if there are extras after pledging is over, then they might get one. OR might get one passed down to them. What about you, SirHornyToad?

Rush shirts - only sisters get them, because we generally have our letters on them and only initiated sisters can wear the letters. But my chapter always printed several extras - that way, if we decided to use the same shirts next year, we could give the extra shirts to last year's new members.

Bid day shirts - only new members got these for free. Sisters could buy bid day shirts at cost from the chapter if there were any left over.

At Baylor, only members of sororities can wear sorority rush tshirts. It is a panhellenic rush violation if boys wear them (no matter what year they are from!). Our rush is in January so we have all semester to wear our rush tshirts around campus!

The fraternities here however give out their rush shirts to girls. The guys all wear them. But they order shirts for girlfriends, friends who are girls, girls guys have crushes on, sisters, etc. Rush shirts are a way to show that the guys hang out with cool girls.
And girls wear them because it shows you hang out with cool guys. It is sort of a big deal for a guy you are crushing on to give you a rush shirt. Likewise, girls tend to get really bitter if they don't get rush "cotton" from their good guy friends or a boy they like!

At ASU we all wear rush shirts for a month before rush. Each house does their own thing. Some fraternities wear the girls shirts and a lot og girls get fraternity shirts. I had one that said the guys I dig are Kappa Sig. Then on bid day everyone gets bid day shirts, new and old members. We have so many left over cause we ordered like 170 and we only have like 150 girls.
