Thumbs up NBA Discussion

Since it's almost time for the NBA season to start, let's start the discussion. I will start with my ranting on Landen. I got this from yahoo which pretty much says what I'm thinking:

Quote:
I'm at a loss for words. Scott Layden has single handedly DESTROYED this once proud franchise. For all you Knicks fans who need to be reminded lets start from the begining.

1. 1999 Layden selects Fredrick Weis over Ron Artest.

2. After the 2000 playoff run to the Eastern Conference Finals, instead of making Patrick play out the last year of his contract he trades Ewing for Glen Rice.

3. In 2001 Layden decieds to offer a 100 million dollar contract to Allen Houston.

4. Layden decieds to offer big money conracts to 3 crappy players: Shannen Anderson, Howard Eisley, and Clarence Weatherspoon. Thus creating the salary cap hell which the Knicks are in.

5. In 2002 Layden decides to trade away the 7th pick in the draft for Antonio McDyess. For god sakes the Knicks could of had Amare Stoudemire or Caron Butler.

6. Now the heart and soul of the Knicks (Latrell Sprewell) has been traded to Minnesota for Keith Van Horn.

I will start off by admitting that I am not a Knicks fan. When was the last time the Knicks were a great team? Great, not just good. They were in the finals in 99 and lost. I only know that because I attended one of the games with family. It is obvious that Scott Layden has done little to nothing to turn the team into champions.

I would say they were great in the mid early to mid 90s. If the Chicago Bulls weren't around, I belived they would have won a couple championships. Also the mid 70s.

Disgruntled Knicks fan since the 80s.

That’s some guarantee. If the team clicks with their new additions and if Kobe is not distracted or a distraction, they are definitely the team to beat. But undefeated in the playoffs? I love the Lakers, but there are a lot if "if’s" right now. I do believe they'll add another championship this year. Oh well, time to go to class...

OK, I need someone to tell me I'm not insane here.

But i could have sworn that the other night while watching Sports Center I heard that Jordan might play for the Lakers if by some chance Kobe is too caught up in his trail? Please tell me I was seriously out of it...

There was speculation that "Laker Head Coach Philip" was supposedly trying to lure MJ out of retirement. Jordan apparently said he wouldn't come out of retirement.

Good, I was about to say if that was true, every other team in the NBA should just forfeit their seasons because they'd have no chance.

What a team that would have made though.
