Question 2010 Convention

I've never been to convention and I saw it was in New Orleans this year (another place I've never been). I was wondering if some sisters who have been to convention before could let me know what all happens there, who usually attends, etc. I've just signed on to be the membership advisor to a collegiate chapter and I thought this might be a good year to attend.

it is action packed!! you go from dawn to dusk, but it is an amazing, inspiring experience, one i think that every sorority member should have at least once.

So I saw the forms and the prices are pretty high for the hotel. I'd love to do a quad room with some sisters... $500/person is much better than $1,050! I'm guessing, though, that means two people to a bed...?

Also, what's with the credentials form? You need your local alumnae chapter to sign off that you're a sister in good standing in order to go? Are they afraid non-sisters would crash during ritual or something?

I don't think you need the credential form for Alumnae. It's more for collegiates.

I am also attending for the first time (was all set to go 2 years ago and had to cancel due to a family issue) and will be my first time in New Orleans. Definitely looking for 3 others to share a quad as its too expensive for a double.

each chapter-collegiate and alumnae- are allowed to be represented by one member for voting purposes. other members of the same chapter may be attending, but each chapter is only allowed one voting member/official delegate. during official business, the official delegates sit in designated seating. there is paperwork for the alumnae president to fill out for the chapters official delegate and if you have the opportunity to the o.d., you should do it.

when i went to convention, i got a single room. it was nice to have a room to myself, because as i said, you are going from dawn to dusk(well, actually beyond dusk!) and it was nice to be able to relax on my own. it was lonely though, to not have a roommate(s). i think it is the collegiate members who are 4 to a room. the rooms are standard hotel rooms, so it might feel a little crowded for 4.

why don't you call i.o., or if you are a facebook member of zta, you could ask your question about rooms there?
