^^My first thought on seeing that was "that would really work well for alcohol."

If cleaning headlights with toothpaste really works, I will be a happy camper. I need to give it a try.

The wooden spoon over a pot does not work. I've tried it several times. Or maybe I just have defective wooden spoons.

Nothing wrong with yourspoons... or mine have the same defect. The pot boiled over a little less, but the spoon did not prevent boiling over.

I wanted to report on my toothpaste headlight cleaning. I did see an improvement, but it wasn't super fabulous. My car is 14 years old, so I'm sure that has something to do with it. It definitely took the yellow off, but there's still some haze. Didn't take much time at all.

the wooden spoon buys you time. i've never seen one completely stop a pot from boiling over.

the cheaper the toothpaste, the better. however, it has to be reapplied on a regular basis. the stuff at the auto parts store and the infomercials is probably the way to go on that. there are a lot of ways to clean your headlight lens though. the UV damaged plastic and coating is really what you're rubbing off with the abrasive (e.g. toothpaste; sandpaper...) stuff. the toothpaste is good for a quick fix for a month or whatever, but the task-specific product has UV protection, so it's more of an annual thing.

i think my favorite one is the orange hack. i've used it to get kids to pick fruit over candy.

Ha, I thought the same thing! Regardless, it's such a good idea.
