Update on Alpha Gamma Delta at UGA
An update on the AGD Chapter @ Univ. of Georgia. As suspected, a disgruntled member who wanted to get out of her housing contract contacted the Univ. with charges of racial prejudice in recruitment. An investigation was conducted and no guilt was found on behalf of the chapter. The chapter is now going to use this opportunity to take an educational and leadership role on the Univ. of Ga. campus to help in issues of racial diversity.

I received this information from the Alpha Gamma Delta rep in our Alumnae Panhellenic.
There is a bit on the UGA news about this, but it doesn't mention the housing contract issue, etc.

Hey X girl,
If you read thur UGA's student newspaper The Red and Black, they had lots of coverage on it. You can look thur past issues. The story may not always appear in the front page, but there are plenty leeters to the editior about this and how the University handled things

PnguineTrax,
I read in the article that's linked a couple of posts down from yours that the student who brought the charges withdrew from the univeristy. If all she wanted to do was get out of the housing contract why didn't she just withdraw from UGA in the first place? Why bring up the charges as a way to get out of the housing contract if she wasn't going to stay at the school? This isn't making sense to me!

I can't say what was going thru this particular student's mind, but my impression is that there were issues relating to getting out of the housing contract and the student in question was trying to make trouble in retaliation for alledged harassment.
If I hear more, I will post.
