On This Day in History...

WKRP debuted (1978?). A moment of silence, please, for one of the few sitcoms that never jumped the shark.

ANYWAY, yea for WKRP! It's still one of those shows that I will stop down for when I find it anywhere.

I remember watching it when I was a little kid, my parents used to watch the reruns; at least I think they were reruns, I was born in '81 and I'm not sure the exact date when my parents were watching.

I've looked for it in syndication around here, and can't find it on any stations. I'm usually up odd hours, too, so I figure they just don't regularly show episodes around here.

I remember my rents watching it too... I was born in '82... so I don't know if they were reruns or the actual thing either but I remember my parents watching it!

Haha, that's the same way I am. The more i think about it, the more I realize it was reruns, as I remember hearing the show ended right around when I was born. Although I don't have much time to watch TV, it'd be nice if it was in syndication (great cast, including Gordon Jump, a Kappa Sig).

Plus, it had the guy from "Head of the Class," which automatically qualifies it as a great show.

WGN's super station has it on Sundays, I think around 7-8pm or so. Check your guide. It's finally out on dvd, too.

There were so many funny episodes, even though "Turkeys Away" was probably the funniest. The one about the Funeral Home Commercial ("one day, you're going to buy it...") and when there are tornados, and Les Nessman is told to read the script for a Communist invasion and substitute the word tornado for communist is still a riot. Oh, and when the state trooper tries to convince the audience that drinking is bad for your reflexes and has Venus Flytrap & Johnny Fever doing shots - classic!

It was on prime time from 1978 until 1982 and was then in reruns.
