green book ?
when handing out cor bids, is there a requisite amount of time in which the pnm should give an answer to the sorority?
i could only find that once the bid has been accepted, the sorority must notify panhellenic within 24 hours.

I don't believe there is any set rule. I think it would be good to put on the Invitation to Membership a 'please accept or decline by" date.

Panhellenic at the school of the AXiD chapter I advise has a rule that a PNM must show up at the Greek Life office within 24 hours of receiving the COB bid. A no-show means a "no".

I don't have a Green Book with me, but I don't ever remember seeing anything about a time limit on a COR bid. I think that's up to the sorority or campus.

I agree with honeychile...I don't think NPC mandates a time limit to accept or decline. It's most likely up to each individual organization and/or CPH.

My school's greek affairs office (something to that extent) has a policy that bids must be signed within 7 days of being given out or the fraternity/sorority is fined something like $10/day/week(??)

That's something that is up to the individual chapter OR your school's Panhellenic. The school doesn't give us a time limit, as long as ALL NM info cards are in and rosters are updated by the end of the semester.
If a PNM doesn't accept/decline the day the bid is extended, we give them 48 hours to think it over if they're not sure. We call them after that 48 hours is up and they understand that if they haven't contacted us by then, we will assume they've declined.

that actually never crossed my mind...but i looked it up again and this is what our 'manual' says
"Membership Agreements (formerly known as Bid Cards) are to be signed within one week of a member joining an organization. Organizations will be assessed a $5.00 fine per member per week for failure to meet this deadline. Once a student has signed a Membership Agreement, he/she will be immediately added to the organization’s roster."
I think I somewhat misinterpreted it at first, but I'm kinda still thrown off a bit . You know what I think is kinda funny, our university is really into this "politically correctness", and I guess we can't even call them bid cards anymore according to this statement. Of all the papers and stuff we receive when we first join, there are several that go over correct and incorrect terms and what we're not allowed to use, like 'pledge' and 'rush', which might hold true for other schools too I guess.
