When I came to college I had no intention of joining a fraternity. My roommate, who I had gone to high school with convinced me to go out to this event during orientation, the Greek bbq. So I went. We walked around saw a bunch of tools and ate some food. We were about to leave when this guy came up to my roommate and started talking to him. I joined the conversation and was amazed that this guy had actually gone to our high school as well. Long story short I was just amazed at how much these guys were like me. Hard working, determined, and extremely competitive. Dominated the campus in all aspects; GPA, Homecoming, Greek Week, Intramurals....simply amazing. So I accepted a bid.
I was unsure what I really wanted to accomplish, but as a first semester freshman it gave me an instant sense of being. I was apart of something great. Our chapter was relatively new, but in the short time on campus it had achieved everything. We were despised by all other fraternities, one of which called us a "boys club." This just fueled the fire, and continued our dominance.
To me, the significance of joining a fraternity was immediately apparent. I was a man surrounded by brothers. Regardless of what happened I knew that I would always having someone there to help me out. One phrase says it best.....

Answer these questions in some way or another. I think the answer to this is the fundamental difference between Traditional and BMP chapters.
I have an answer from a traditional perspective, but I want to hear some Balanced Man answers first.
