Fundraising Ideas
Aloha Greek Chat Sisters,
After a lengthy chat with the Hawaii Alumnae President, it was decided that the Delta Sigma and Hawaii Alumnae Chapters would begin an aggressive fundraising campaign for Convention 2004. We already know the convention fees alone are going to be a bit more costly then the norm, and then we have to add the lovely travelling expense from Hawaii (there are certainly some downs to living in paradise.) And guess who gets to head that campaign? That's right, yours truly.
I would love to tap your brains for some fundraising ideas. Ideas of all sizes are welcome -- be it an idea for the collegians, alumnae, or a combined effort.
Our t-shirt sales for the last convention were a great success, and we will probably come up with a new design for this one... but it's going to take a lot more to get our girls to convention this time!
Mahalo for your time!
Loyally,
Mai Ly

Mai Ly...first of all if you do another shirt, please let me know because I adore my surfing squirrel shirt and would totally be interested in another Delta Sigma shirt!
Second, our chapter is doing a philanthropy event right now which we hope will be very successful. It's called a "Wing Fling" and it is the brainchild of our amazing philanthropy chair Melissa. I don't know all the details, however we got a bunch of local restaurants to donate buffalo wings and then other companies to donate pop and stuff. In return we put their logos on our shirts. Then we charge like $5 (I think) for people to come and "taste test" the wings. I think we give some money back to the place with the wings that are voted the best. If you are interested, I can get further details.
We have also done a "Fraternity Men's Calendar," which is very successful (but we have 11 fraternities so it works well...I don't know how many you have).

Hi! Just had a few quick thoughts...
I think a T-shirt is a great idea. You could also probably contact additional chapters (via email/their websites) beforehand and see if anyone would be interested in buying one. I'm sure you'd get a lot of interest from different chapters.
I've also heard of other alumnae groups/chapters doing garage/yard sales. I've also heard of groups doing sales together, like a few different sororities/fraternities or different groups to make it bigger. I think people are more likely to donate things they're getting rid of more than money donations.
Group cookbooks also is another one I've heard a lot about lately. Everyone enters their favorite recipes and then make a book out of it to sell.
guess this won't be quick, I have a few more (I'm on a roll....)
-golf outing
-silent auction
-maybe you could talk someone from Mary Kay, Pampered Chef, etc to come to a party and the $ that would go to the person hosting the party could go into your fund instead
-casino party (not sure of the legal issues with that one)
-rent a roller skating/ice skating rink and charge extra

Car washes are always a good idea. Team up with a fraternity & then have it in a prominent place. Our chapter always does well with our annual golf tournament. PM me and I'll give you the details of how to run it...I just typed it out and then decided I didn't want it out on the internet. Our chapter always raises $2000+ with our annual golf tournament.

I know Delta Sigma performed a Hula dance at the last Convention, so what about Hula lessons as a fundraising idea?
Also, and this is kind of a big one...what about holding a 5k race? Im sure there are plenty of ppl who would run in Hawai'i, and you might be able to generate enough money to go to a charity and for Delta Sig to go.

No active national fraternities on our campus lately, so the calendar would be a hard one...
But these are some great ideas!
Mahalo nui loa!
Please keep them coming!
