what has greek life come to here?

so a greek week activity was postponed due to bad weather last week. well, now it's cancelled due to events of the weekend.

aside from one sorority leaving campus at the end of this year (not due to any disciplinary actions) and another being on probation, another one will soon be on probation also. their formal was busted last night. now rumor has it that another sorority ratted them out. now i wouldn't be too surprised since they are rivals, but still. it's not like the greek community is as strong as it used to be, but come on.

after the formal bust, the cops moved onto a fraternity party, so they may also be getting into trouble - but since it wasn't an official party, it probably won't be as bad as the formal situation.

so out of 10 glo's (5 fraternities and 5 sororities), 3 will be on probation, one has dropped off from any activity in the greek community, one has almost split into two different cliques, and one will not be here next year. aside from that, phc and ifc are usually at ends with each other.

needless to say, i'm glad i'm graduating before it completely falls apart.

As I understand from a previous post, there is an HOmaha cop who has a drive to screw Greeks in town! UNO/Creighton are both his domaine, True or False?

If True, then if you have chapters in common, get to be so squeeky clean that ther can be no reason for him or them to bust you!

This from an ex cop! I would not go out of my then to bust a Greek Org. Hell no, no way!

But cover thine own ass!

If every thing is clean and say you had a party and were busted, then you may have legal ramifications.

more details are leading to determining that another soroity did rat them out. there were six members from the one sorority at the bar in the hotel at the other sorority's formal.

rumor has it right now that there were around 150 mips this weekend.

Well, first find out if is true before making accuastions!

Start a movement to get Greeks closer togehter for survival. Hell, that is plain and simple! Get along or be gone!

it's even sadder to see. we were a fairly unified community. as phc president, i took the system to new levels - activities, participation, working together. now the new pres and pres-elect don't want to deal with anything.
all during my term, we held presidential roundtables to work together. even meeting the the president of the university and the director of student services.
we were all doing pretty well until formal recruitment this spring when it got pretty cut-throat - way more than usual. then greek week (which wasn't much of anything to begin with) was really weak and no one got along.

as far as more details, i'm not sure yet. i'm waiting for one of my sisters that sits on phc exec to get more info.

It needs to be put VERY PLAIN, we get along or we may all be gone!

I dont know why it should be so cut throat unless C U jas so many women wanting to get into Soroitys, or maybe so few.

The reason if it is that so few are is because of the infighting of the Chapters there and are not reaching the majority of women.

My best friend is a member of the chapter who got busted. She got an MIP last year when another party was busted and tons of her chapter members received MIPs. She is really scared that nationals may yank their charter since this has happened twice in less than a year. I really hope that doesn't happen.

On another random note, do you know Angie Odorisio? I went to HS with her and she was a great friend of mine.

I know this reply is way after the fact. But my best friend is in the sorority that was accused of being the ones that ratted them out and she swears they didn't do anything. So to clear her name, I just thought I would write that.
