Cool update

Hi folks,
I have updated the English version of my chapter's web site.
Mostly, with a new introduction that gives you all the information "you ever wanted to have" about my chapter and fraternity, and with lots of new pictures in the gallery.
Please stop by, sign the guestbook and tell us what you think. I'd appreciate it.

thanks

Thanks a lot zntke11,

I pass on the compliments to my brother who created the site. Once that was done it is not that much maintenance work actually. The German version has a news section that is updated regularly though. keep checking the site out!!

Definitely hazing frat

Outstanding web site, but clearly reveals hazing of pledges (wearing silly costumes), excess beer drinking, and perhaps sexual hijinks.

Well, thanks al lot for the compliment and comments.

I guess it all depends of the point of view on hazing. What are the standards. We are actually very proud to wear the "silly costumes" on certain official occasions - for us they represent over 200 years of student traditions and academic liberties. The guys in the "costumes" are usually the officers and not pledges!

The excess beer drinking: well some people like to have fun and some are party poopers - in some parts of Germany beer is considered "basic food" and it is nothing special to show drinking people - I guess we have a different drinking culture. It is actually quite nice, not to have to pretend we were not drinking.

but what are sexual hijinks??? Sorry, I never heard that expression.

In any case thanks for the comments again - gives me an opportunity to explain a few things. I guess because our contact to alumni is much more intense, a feeling for traditions, traditional songs, customs, clothing in the chapter is very well developed and might look strage to outsiders. It helps to keep a good bond between Chapret and fraternity members.

We certainly have things that would be considered "light hazing" but that all depends on standards and it is nothing compared to what I have heard from American fraternities.

Hope that helps,
cheers, Matt
